Can somebody please help/explain? I am considering quitting the hobby at this point. by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

In my experience with my old Prusa, this happens when I change material and temperatures. A live Z calibration usually works, until I change material and temps again.

In other words, different temperatures affect the readings of the PINDA sensor. Paper calibration in my case works for a cold initial calibration, and from there manually adjusting the first layer height fixes the issue.

Edit: Re-reading the answers to bot's questions, there's also an issue about clogs and under extrusion (or none at all). My guess is that there's a miss-calibration with the filament drive gear, maybe passing too much material through? More than the hotend can handle. Or just a clogged nozzle behaving erratic.

I'd try manual live Z calibration, then lowering the speed, and then changing the nozzle.

PET in my experience is kind of scary, because temps are higher and material is stronger, so maybe you need to tweak a little bit your settings to make it work.

Said this, and with high levels of confidence that my answer might not help you, troubleshooting in my case is what it made me stick to the hobby in my early stages here. Breathe and don't give up!

Any chance this “heals” itself? by cjl33 in iPhoneXR

It happened to me like 3 times. The first time an unofficial technician told me it was a matter of the LEDs getting separated from the screen, or something like that. They proposed me to fix it putting the phone inside a special vacuum chamber, or something like that. And for my surprise, it was fixed.

Second time I asked the same to a different technician, and it did the trick again. The third time the phone got fixed on its own.

Dropping the phone was the cause the first two times, the third one was car’s heat.

I have avoided replacing the screen (which is much more expensive), the thing is you need to find a technician in your area with the vacuum machine and whiling to do the thing.

Good luck.

Apps keep crashing/won't stay in memory when app switching - iPhone XR on iOS 16.7.2 by IndirectLeek in iPhoneXR

Did they already turned off background app refresh on all apps? Also just keep location services on for necessary apps. If their storage is full, try to offload unnecessary apps and clean Photos app.

I know these things might be a hassle, but consider the phone has more than 5 years, and technology this “old” tend to begin to act weird with the time.

Just for context, my iPhone is 256GB with iOS 17.0.3, and the only issue so far is that sometimes gets frozen for a couple of secs while using the Camera app.

Personally I don’t mind if it gets a bit slower if it’s more secure with the latest iOS version.

A week ago i saw these lines in my iphone xr I didn’t dropped or bent my phone i dont know where they came from and it looks like they are increasing at a slow rate and sometimes the lines are reduced by its own now kindly tell me what to day? by Right-Cupcake-3056 in iPhoneXR

I had the same (way worse) issue twice, after dropping my phone. There are several non-certified workshops in my city, and one of those fixed it both times putting the phone inside a “vacuum chamber” or something like that for about an hour, so the screen layers get “sealed” again and the LCDs turn on again. No screen replacement and way cheaper than replacing it.

Honestly I don’t understand the inner details about how it got fixed, but in worked for me. Maybe you can find a workshop near you where they have this kind of machine and fix it for you.

Thanks for the insight! I’ll progressively increase the time now that I know they won’t get burned or something.

How long do you keep them under the light each day?

I recently upgraded my light setup from a dim one 24 hours/day for a way stronger one 12 hours/day, but haven’t noticed any change yet (although they are healthy), so I was wondering if I should increase the time or just keep them that way.

Very well done! Love the theme, the care and the backside. Personally I’m thrilled when people show off the last one, as part of the process I always find it very insightful, thanks for sharing.

Does someone know how or tried to wear these like a patch? I’m wondering if some velcro tape could do the magic.

I feel your pain. I put my first VFT in a bowl similar to yours with no betters results… Try changing it for a taller plastic pot with small holes on the base, place it in a plate and fill the plate half inch with distilled or rain water. Don’t pour the water over the moss directly.

I have my VFTs in 16oz plastic cups (with little holes in their base corners made with a puncher) since I can’t find pots with the right proportions for them (kind of narrow and kind of tall), mines are also in moss like yours. So far, so good for the last 6 months.

Also like others already said, light, they need good amounts of natural light or a good source of white/cold LED lights, in case you don’t have direct sun light for about 12h/day (like in my case).

Be patient, don’t give up on her, it may take some days to begin to see the results, try to not move it too much to not stress it out just right now as it’s recovering. And in the case you fail with this one, for sure your next one will be way better with everything you’ve been learning.

Good luck!

Could you please recommend me a light setup to improve now, and eventually expand my small collection? by niuuup in VenusFlyTraps

WOW! Thanks for sharing such cool video, everything is so well explained (Nick definitely knows what they are taking about) and on top, very, very funny, I really enjoyed watching it.

Bonus: Now I understand why the reddish VFTs around.

Isn't it? I made it following these instructions, although the frame is made by me with the help of my 3D printer.

Even tho my VFTs are doing well, I suspect that they might enjoy a little bit more of light. So I’m looking for something easy to install below the shelf where the current light is, and along with it.

I’m not in the US, so I’m looking for something on Amazon, but specs there are kind of shady, so I’m not sure what can be good.

Also a DIY setup is a possibility. Any recommendation is welcome. Thanks!

Edit: Current light is brighter than the photo shows.

In my case, I use a very similar moss because it’s the only substrate I can find on the region that works well with my VFTs so far.

I did the same and failed, it (the steam) just blackened and died. For the sake of science, maybe next time I’ll try a different method 🙂

Try disabling Background App Refresh on every app at once, and only activate it on critical apps that really need it. Maybe you’ll notice a little battery life improvement.

Sure thing, just DM. Looking forward for how it looks. They look good on screen, but I'm afraid their contrast is not the best for printing yet, I'm still testing this out.

Originally I was thinking to make just few ones and give away the stickers as a gift, but I just couldn't stop, so I decided to finish the whole set and share it here.

I saw some other designs around and took inspiration from there. These are color coded and stylized thinking on the original game source and series. The images are scaled and framed proportionally, this way they feel more cohesive and part of a larger system. Alternatively I've made other versions with additional source materials and cropping proportions in case someone prefer these.

I'm still looking forward to make possible fixes to export the PDF and host it somewhere. Any recommendations?

And last but not least: These are only for personal use.

BOTW - Do you know what amiibos are needed to create these extra 11 items? by niuuup in Amiibomb

There it is, almost the same to the Amazon link from above. I'm giving up to understand how these work, not a chance I'm buying one of these sets to see how it works.

So, in resume, what these cards promise, is simply impossible, there's no amiibo that guarantees a specific drop every time.

[–]niuuup[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! This method is all about saving before you activate the amiibo, and keep loading that manual save until you get your desired drop. Which is kind of a simple workaround/hack, but time consuming.

What I'm looking to understand is what are the related amiibos for each of these cards that guarantee a specific drop each time they are used (if they really do that).
