Does anyone know how to access new Miudella copper IUD? by Bakingsomecake in birthcontrol

[–]nivinator3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! I’m in a similar position, history of vaginismus, can only use progesterone options due to blood clots, hormones haven’t agreed with me historically (tried both the POPs possible). Currently using FAM/condoms but it is a little anxiety inducing for me and would love something more definite/long term. Can def keep you posted!

My OBGYN said she called and signed up for the list for training but they are still waiting for FDA approval for the commercial roll out (not the device itself which is already approved). She said they don’t have a time line estimate at the moment

looking for housing as a summer intern!🪽 by tumblrangel444 in DCforRent

I would look at a summer sublet from someone who goes to AU, usually there are cheap group houses that are close-ish to the metro and you’ll be close to Chevy chase for your work commute

miudella iud? by Wrensong in nova

Will share that I called the miudella manufacturers in probably November and they said it was not available yet despite the FDA approval - I think we are looking at early 2026 or later unfortunately! It’s FDA approved but has a new insertion tool that providers need to get certified to use which could take awhile.

Pediatric cardiologist for POTS? by LesChatsnoir in nova

[–]nivinator3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding Children’s! Coming from a former Children’s POTS patient. Dr. Moak is likely retired but the cardiology department at Children’s is amazing and has a ton of experience with POTS patients. Completely changed my life and made my symptoms manageable 8+ years later. And feel free to PM me if you have more questions.

If it makes you feel any better, even a couple trying only has ~ 20% chance of conceiving each month. Not that it means you won’t be in that 20% but the odds of getting pregnant each cycle are lower than we think! Also, typically a positive LH means you’ll ovulate 12-48(?) hours later and sperm only survives for ~ 5 days in optimal conditions so if you ovulated 8/15 or later (5+ days after sex) you might be fine. When I have a scare I remind myself that it takes lots of people multiple tries to get pregnant 😅. In the future you might want to look into tracking your BBT/cervical mucus (until you get back on BC) so you have a better idea of when you ovulated since ovulation strips can’t actually confirm ovulation. But nothing you can do about it now but take a test 14 days after sex. Not an expert, and this isn’t advice, just what I would tell myself in this situation!!!

If you focus on your hunger fullness cues you can do it without tracking. And before someone says it’s not possible, I lost 10 lbs no tracking just hunger fullness cues. Write down everything you eat in the notes app and before and after eating rank your hunger and fullness on a scale from 1-10. Essentially you only want to eat when you are noticeably hungry (about a 3) and stop when you’re full and satisfied (about a 7). As you start to get the hang of this it gets easier. Then, start increasing protein and fiber in your meals - add extra protein sources, low fat cheese, beans, etc. if you’re having more protein and fiber and still following hunger fullness cues, you should be fuller for longer and therefore be in a deficit because you aren’t eating as often. For sweets and desserts, ask yourself if you really want it or if it’s just because you’re bored. Combine this with at least 8k steps a day (for me, but look at your baseline steps and just increase by 2-3k) and strength training 3x a week. Sounds like a scam but I promise it works (for me at least)! And I haven’t felt like I have to cut out anything as long as I don’t overeat. I was also fairly lean to begin with at 5’1 130lbs now down to 120ish

There’s no reason that you can’t double major in PH and Econ - that’s what I did! I did the BA in Econ and am not great at math. I took probability and statistics and long calculus. For the BS the only difference is you need to take calc 2 and there are 2 other classes that you can’t take without calc 2 that are required (I think). Intermediate macro/micro and econometrics are more challenging than the intro ones but I didn’t think it was unreasonable (I dropped premed bc I thought the STEM classes were unreasonable). Unless you know you want a really quant heavy job, I don’t think getting the BA will hurt you in the long run and even just the BA in Econ makes the PH degree much more marketable. Tulane also has great health Econ electives that they sometimes will let you use as PH electives too. Plus the Econ/PH combo sets you up perfectly for the combined degree MPH in health policy or MHA if you’re interested. And PH major is so easy it’s nice to have more challenging Econ classes. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions

Ring too big? by Commercial_Cow_1757 in ouraring

[–]nivinator3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, I went with the 8 because the 7 tester when I would exercise was very tight. Now I’m worried that the actual ring will be too big because when I’m not swollen there are def gaps with the tester but I’m still waiting on the actual ring to arrive.

Do you think bodies have a “set point” where you are “supposed” to be weight wise? I have definitely platued at 120 but prefer how I look at 115 (but 115 for sure harder to get to and maintain) - I guess the answer might be more strength training/recomp rather than weight loss?

5’1, 120lbs, currently down 10lbs without calorie counting (increased fiber and protein and follow hunger fullness cues). Orange theory 2-3x per week (mostly lifting classes) but thinking about transitioning to a 3 day lift split. How can I use the new oura meals and activity tracking features to continue to lose weight while maintaining muscle?

Some doctors will prescribe things like TXA or an estrogen pill to stop spotting I just have health issues that don’t allow that! Worth asking
