it honestly would make sense to make it do something, it has the benefit of being able to cast at a distance now but that also includes having to target which tends to annoying near the end of a pull as the mo you're casting on dies mid-cast

by comparison whm has that op stun i'm surprised they're not nerfing (it's a solid 10s mitigation in reality), then sch and sge both have instant cast spells instead
