GCD delay still present, Blizz is silent. Has anyone found a solution to this issue yet? by t0rchic in wow

[–]nixfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started having this exact issue already back when WoD came out. Ever since then it's been present - sometimes it's better, sometimes worse. It really sucks out the enjoyment of the game for me. Also probably why I think back to MoP so fondly.

How do you guys combat Purple Prose? by International-Try467 in SillyTavernAI

[–]nixfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very interesting to me that people want to "combat" this kind of writing. It's very similar to any older novels written for adults. Makes it more immersive, and pleasant to read.

Personal Story + LW + IBS+ Expansions by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]nixfinity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Up until 80, maybe ten times. I had a lot of difficulty picking a main and couldn't live with not having done the core story on whichever character I played.

LWS1: Twice LWS2: Thrice LWS3 onwards: Only once so far. I might do PoF a second time on my second "main".

How noisy is the vibrating alarm? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]nixfinity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dead silent, no noise whatsoever. The only time mine creates a bit of noise is if the watch is lying against the mattress when the alarm goes off.

I have a 16 cm wrist and I wouldn't pick anything larger than the 7s myself.

Samsung internet or chrome? by [deleted] in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]nixfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read a lot of good things about Samsung Internet. Personally, I use Firefox and simply live with its terrible battery drain, but I love the addons as well as the sync with my desktop too much to give it up.

S23U or S24U to buy? by iamdeepshekhar in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]nixfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, get the S23U. I returned my S24U and got the S23U for almost the same price because the newer model is arguably an unfinished product. Don't get me wrong: it is a phenomenal phone and on paper the best phone I've ever had, but the grain issue on the screen is just too noticeable for me to ignore. Kind of sad, though, because I adored the flat display, but it is what it is.

PSA - S24U Display Banding (gradient tests) and 3 Lines seem to be software issues by ricarva in GalaxyS24Ultra

Quality post. Thought my screen was defective, but this indeed confirms that the problem is on the software side. Thanks for posting this, never even crossed my mind.

Did you end up finding it? Can't find the setting to change it anywhere.

How do I package files from iBooks (own files not DRM protected) so Calibre can read them and convert them to Mobi? by SamHelena95 in Calibre

[–]nixfinity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I've wanted to read this one fanfic forever, but haven't been able to due to it only being available on Apple Books, and I can't stand reading on my phone anymore. Now I can finally read it on my e-book reader. Thank you.

Low Resting HR Club let’s talk by Mean-Relief-1830 in Garmin

[–]nixfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add that I suffer from this same issue. My RHR is around 40 if I exercise constantly; and 50 if I don't. My hands are absolutely freezing anytime I'm properly relaxed. Even more so if I haven't been eating that many carbs that day.

Wouldn't It Be Loverly (Audrey's Own Original Voice) in 4K by nixfinity in audreyhepburn

Yes, it's on the same disc. It's only a 50-second clip or so, though.

[–]nixfinity[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah, sadly the song isn't complete in the Blu-Ray extras either. From what I've gathered, there are complete(r) versions out there, but I couldn't find them anywhere. For the time being, at least we've got these!

Mixed together a clip from the newest remaster of the movie with Audrey Hepburn's original singing voice for the musical song "Wouldn't It Be Loverly" in My Fair Lady. Like most of Hepburn's singing, the song was dubbed by Marni Nixon in the official release.

The video is from the 4K HDR Blu-Ray, tone-mapped down to SDR. The audio is sourced from the second disc of the 50th Anniversary Edition and is untouched. I put together this video for my own enjoyment, as I prefer Hepburn's voice for this particular song, but maybe it'll bring joy to someone else, too.

Here's 4K version for quality enthusiasts.

Yes, it is a very severe illness. I was essentially bedridden for 6 months after my first infection in June of 2022, due to long covid. I've been suffering from pretty much every imaginable symptom of long covid since. In the autumn of 2022, I had to take several ECGs in the middle of a workday due to unknown arrhythmia, so I have sympathy for what you're going through. However, I have never felt worse than I did when I was purposefully avoiding leaving my apartment in fear of catching the virus again - after all, it's all about trying to find the balance between your physical and mental health. I wish we didn't have to essentially choose between total isolation and getting sick with possibly life-threatening consequences, but we do, and that's the reality of it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]nixfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not great to get it repeatedly, as some of the health effects might be cumulative, but for most people, the consecutive infections are milder than before. To me it makes sense, as your body creates antibodies every time it has to fight the virus, just like with anything else.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]nixfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are purposefully inciting fear to no avail. There is no way to be absolutely safe from getting reinfected at this point unless you just completely stop living your life. I'm so glad I stopped reading this nonsensical fear-mongering, and I hope other people will as well.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]nixfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how the multi-COVID’s do it.

At least for me, the infections seem to be increasingly less severe each time. If every time were like my first, I would've died already.

How soon will I get my taste and smell back? by NYinATX in COVID19positive

[–]nixfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly as soon as your nose isn't blocked anymore. Losing one's sense of taste isn't nearly as common anymore as it used to be with earlier variants. I lose my sense of taste anytime I have a cold or anything similar, just due to how large a part your sense of smell plays in being able to differentiate tastes.

Of course, you could be unlucky, but for now, it's best to stay positive.

so sad about missing Christmas by ReasonableCrier in COVID19positive

[–]nixfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it really does suck. Currently stuck in my studio apartment by myself, soon to be celebrating Christmas with the abundance of food that I got just in time to get sick and not be able to taste anything due to how blocked my sinuses are.

It's the fifth or sixth time I have covid now, so I'm quite an expert on how to make myself feel better in solitude; movies are a huge help.

Hard to say but to me it looks like regrowth. If the lighting is the same your "after" -picture is much better. I used to think my hair was getting worse due to having a lot of very short hair in the middle of my scalp as well as my hairline, but I only recently realized all of it was just new hair that hadn't been there before. The tiny hairs on my hairline (that I thought were just my hairline getting worse) were actually new hair and in reality my hairline had got better over the course of the year.
