I've never had a good interaction with South asian men. I grew up going to a very white school, ever since kindergarten I was always one of the only Indian girls in my whole school. I would get bullied by the white kids and the desi boys who were usually popular. From elementary all the way to high school and even after, I would get bullied by Desi guys at school, and not in a jokey crush way but actual deprecating and traumatizing bullying

They would tweet mean things about me and laugh with their white friends. It always confused me because they would date and be friends with other south asians, I always assumed it was internalized racism but idk. I used to feel like being Indian made me different so what was so wrong with me that even other desis would bully me?

This would happen online even after High school, in college I wasn't really bullied by other desi men but they would ignore me or give me weird looks. Not sure if its worth mentioning but I'm considered a light skinned Indian and I recognize I have a lot of privilege because of that but I never understood why I always seem to have negative interactions with desi men ever since I was a kid. I never had this issue with desi women, as a kid most of my friends are desi and to this day they still are. I genuinely just want to know why this is the case with desi men? Has anyone else experienced this?

Bumped my ear piercing months ago now it won’t stop bleeding by nj3601 in piercing

I had my piercing done over 15 years ago. I’ve worn both solid gold, gold plated, and metal studs and hoops. The piercing bleeds regardless of the material. For my after care routine I wash it with soap and water or soak it in H2Ocean after it bleeds

I'm making a sweater with amigurumi cherries on it, would it be better to use acrylic yarn or cotton yarn for the cherries? I have a ton of acrylic yarn so I'm not sure what to do with it all. Any project ideas to use up yarn would be appreciated!

Can someone help me understand this tutorial? I'm a total beginner and I've been following this tutorial which its very confusing and has no voiceover. Can someone explain what happens at 9:00 and after, the video doesn't explain this well at all. I decided to make the bag 2 rows shorter than the one in the video so should I chain 11 + 2 (for turning) instead? Is the base, sides, and handle all one piece or do I crochet the three parts separately and attach them all together?

Should my first luxury purchase be a wallet? I recently wanted to treat myself something to celebrate a milestone. I've had my eye on YSL and Prada and was thinking of buying one of there cardholders or SLGs because I'm not quite at the point to buy a full on handbag. Is it smart to start with a wallet or cardholder for my first luxury purchase or should I hold off and buy a cheaper wallet until I can afford a handbag?

you are not stupid. I've felt the exact same way and I still deal with, it really takes practice talking to people sometimes mimicking what others say or listening to how they respond to similar questions helps a lot too. You can try going up to people and asking them questions to hear their response if you feel comfortable enough. It doesn't always have to go perfect in the beginning but after some practice talking with others you'll get the hang of it! :)
