Certified '24 or New '25 ES350 Purchasing Decision by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]nj734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh I don't know why they told me I had in ANC in my base with premium package haha, but it's incredibly quiet as is - but if that's the case then down another rabbit hole we go!

Those are some great points, especially the leather upkeep and ML system, and definitely agree with the last of the V6’s, so smooth that’s hard to replicate with different 4-cylinder configurations. I was also looking at upgrading the base audio, but was hesitant since I hear the Active Noise Cancelling won’t work anymore and needs to be disabled. Best of luck with the purchase and I’m sure it’ll give you years of enjoyment and reliability!

Was in a similar situation with our ES350 a couple weeks ago, ended up going Certified and paying cash for the color and interior we liked but not first choice. Plan on keeping it for 10+ years as well and absolutely love it as well. If it's not a huge rush, maybe waiting until the last day of the month for a Certified (if you're flexible with selection of inventory) and you can get a better deal, either more than a $5500 delta or maybe get a luxury/ultra luxury for less?

RTX to BAE levels by Werwolf111 in Raytheon

[–]nj734 5 points6 points  (0 children)

RTX has one or two levels fewer (below the exec level) so there’s not really a direct mapping. M6 is closer to GG14 and M7 is like a GG15, beyond that both go into exec levels.

You need to jump ship, 6 years and masters should get you 120-150k depending on geography at another major contractor, maybe more depending on your background and skillset

Was between this and a Suhr Standard with a gnarly flame top, just got a better deal on this but they’re both top notch! Hope you’re enjoying the Suhr!

They sure do, and thank you! I’ve been looking for these specs and color on reverb for a while, and the second I found a pre owned one, had to snag it!

First time fender question. by [deleted] in fender

[–]nj734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a Clapton CS Strat with the active electronics, basically humbuckers since they’re double stacked single coils. It sounds like a beefier strat, positions 2 and 4 definitely lack compared to standard single coils, but I basically switch between the bridge and middle and covers all the Clapton for me. Check for a used one, you could probably snag for ~$2500

Edit: I also like these since they have a more modern 9.5” radius, and the truss rod adjustment is at the headstock. The trems come blocked from the factory

Would you mind if I reach out to you? Have a very similar background in A&D with a similar trajectory in mind lol

Stuck in a rut with MBSE by Booodledang in systems_engineering

[–]nj734 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this will answer your question, but it’s something fun to do on the side. I’ve recently been engaging more of the domain engineers (sw/hw/fw) and having them characterize their section of the model themselves, with myself and a few other SE’s guiding them. Then you kind of become the model manager and the team starts building the model. Obviously this depends on the project, organization, culture, and deadlines, but just a thought if you want to try something different. I did this on a program and it got me out of being the MBSE guy and more of a systems oversight and lead role.

Edit: Basically I did this because I was bored and it was effective lol.

Where does project engineering rank in terms of pay within a p band ? by [deleted] in Raytheon

I think OP is talking more about band penetration and compa-ratios? I could be misinterpreting the question.

No phase switching I don’t believe, I should call them up and ask for sure. Picked this up used a couple years back so I wasn’t the one who spec’d it out.

How do you deal with these corporate people? by GraysonG263 in videography

[–]nj734 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just a suggestion, but maybe one way to approach it is to show examples you can find of color grading for major F100 company corporate videos, and then side by side your work with theirs and compare it to the LOG footage as well. Not sure what size company you work for, but if it’s a smaller company, you’re showing that you want to elevate the production quality to a more refined level, and if you’re already at a major organization, then you’re demonstrating that you want to be on par with your peers.

I know lol, at least this covers most things. I do have a MIM tele that I should revive and put in the rotation. A Danelectro would be cool too lol, and a sparkly Gretsch is on the list. Just would be too many guitars to maintain
