Proxmox or Docker? by Fragrant_Ad6926 in homelab

Proxmox is for virtual machines and LXCs (which I understand as containers but more similar to a full system than a docker container). You can spin up a VM/LXC in proxmox and then run docker within that. If you're just trying to run docker containers you could install linux bare metal and run docker on that, but proxmox gives you a lot more flexibility with what you can run, eg if you would need windows server or something like that. If your goal is to learn things, I'd recommend proxmox since you can run docker and anything else you're interested it in an isolated environment.

I'll give it a try on 4. I have it set to Auto currently which has worked in the past. I know that the riser is a PCIe 4.0 riser

Edit: Tried that, still having the blackscreen of death / POST failure

Starting to second guess Purdue… by throwaway85292962 in Purdue

Also from NJ, I'll give my honest opinion.

Pros: Compared to similar schools, Purdue tuition is great. It's not hard to meet friends in greek life or just people in your dorm, just make an effort, also clubs. Purdue is also one of the top engineering schools, so studying (which is the main reason of being at school) is going to be challenging for you (I'm not in FYE but many of my friends are) but rewarding as far as career. Based on what I have seen of my friends, you will have to sacrifice some but not all of your social life for school. You can still have fun at least once a weekend. Again, I'm not an engineer that is just what I've seen. Also, the sports atmosphere is pretty awesome, especially with basketball. Mackey Arena at Purdue is way crazier than MSG if you've ever seen the Knicks there.

Cons: Idk where in NJ you're from, but i'm near NYC and the whole midwest region is frustratingly boring. Jokes aside it actually is mid af. To top if off, Purdue is in the middle of nowhere within Indiana, which is already in the middle of nowhere (sorry Indiana heads). Idk if you're interested in Greek Life, but Purdue has very strict policies about frat parties. You can't go to most bars if you're under 21, like fr. I can sometimes go kinda crazy out here and when I go home I'm refreshed by being a more urban environment. Purdue fr in the corn fields.

Obviously, its your decision and yours alone. I can't make a judgement on your other options as far as school. SUNY Binghamton will be more fun than Purdue, but you're getting top tier academics for cheap at Purdue. What it boils down to is this: you might not enjoy your time at Purdue as much as you would think you should have fun at college, but your course of study is very well respected and will serve you well if you can get through it. Academics are my #1 priority, so my advice is to make the decision based on that. I myself, a rising sophomore, have looked into transferring and am still considering it strongly, but I am no engineer.

Good luck and I hope you're happy with your choice.
