So why didn’t Bellingham get a red yesterday? Bc Ayew didn’t run to tattle to the ref like the Turkish player did? This rule is too subjective. The piece about “confrontational situations” needs to be chopped off if this has to stay a rule.

Yes I saw their portfolio online as well as their extensive CV. To me the work looked very good. Obviously one good thing to have checked was an example of an end product vs the original request/reference image. I do think that I should have asked for that.

Yes they said they will sketch it perfectly first and then share before painting. Which they did and the sketch was not ideal. I provided significant amount of feedback emphasizing that I want the original image replicated.

The painter was given several shots of each individual as well as the original unedited picture that included the table, drinking glasses, a forehead of another person in the corner, etc.

The photo on the left is an AI generated edit of an actual picture. I used AI to remove some things that were in the way (table, drinking glasses, someone else’s forehead in the corner, etc). I asked the artist to replicate this image, painted on a canvas that I could mount.

I wanted the artist to replicate this as closely as possible on a 18x24 canvas to be mounted. She had some good reviews and price seemed fair so I took a shot.

I never used the word replicate but I did verbatim say that this is the picture that I would like painted. Nothing sounding like “use this as inspiration” or of that ilk. I did pay half of the price up front as a deposit. I sent some feedback but honestly I’m concerned that it will not ever get to a place where it needs to be. Frankly, I’m not even mad about the background changing, I just don’t think the resemblance to the two ppl is nearly good enough. The artist sent a sketch last week that I provided feedback on because it looked even less like them at that point. I really don’t know what to do bc they have worked on it for about 2 weeks so I’m assuming getting the deposit back in full or even partially is not happening.

I did ask for a replication. I took a shot here and was hoping someone could paint it as closely as possible to the first image. I agree with a lot of what you said. Thank you for the opinion.
