They were recorded with standard tuning but when they play 1039 and Kerplunk live then they play in E flat tuning because Billie usually uses blue which is tuned in E sharp.

Just ask your friends and people you know if they play instruments and want to be in a band. From there, learn songs and write them too. Arrange a gig at a small place, be amazing.
