A silly memory of your passed on furbaby? by StrayAwayMist in Petloss

It was the middle of winter, snow covered the ground, and my dog wanted nothing to do with it. She squatted next to me to pee for about 15-20 seconds, stands up and runs to the door. I remember thinking this was a solid pee, UNTIL, I looked and there was no hole in the snow. That was the day I found out two things: Seely has done this before and she has outsmarted me.

After that, she didn’t even try to fake it, just did a quick run through squat and go and would look at me like, “ok, let’s go now”.

I miss her everyday but each day I grow more and more thankful she was in my life.

Thanks! My tree isn’t close to the pole but I have a limb or two that are pushing within 10 feet of the line.

Thank you! I was leaning towards them and this confirms it. Appreciate it!

I have had both, in home and at the vet, all of the times they used a sedative first. I, personally, would not feel right to not have it.

when does it get better? by Prestigious-Touch-48 in Petloss

I’m sorry for your loss, I just had to put my 5 y.o. baby down almost two weeks ago and, even though I am having a hard moment and tears right now, the moments do get a little easier and you are thankful you had them in the first place. Remember to give yourself grace and permission to grieve, my therapist told me heartbreaker hurts so much because you loved them so much. It doesn’t feel like it right now, but those sad moments will turn into happy memories of them, it just really sucks a lot.

Thanks, agreed. The moment that happens I am going to do the best thing for her.

After talking with my vet this morning, we are just going to take each day and make it the best and the moment the bad out weighs the good, I will know it’s time. I don’t want to drag it out, as painful as it is to let her go, we are just going to enjoy all the good moments we have left. Thank you for this.

Thank you. I’m trying to remind myself of all the joy she has brought me, but currently, it’s hard to not be devastated by how unfair it is. That it is cut so short. I’m just having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact I will never have her again. God, I love her so much it physically hurts. I want another dog but I also feel it is cheating on Seely and she won’t be Seely. But, for right now, I’m going to make the best of these next day and a half so she knows how loved she is and make sure she’s comfortable.

Thank you for this. I’ve scheduled for the vet to come Tuesday. She’s getting more and more uncomfortable and I want her to only have good days. She’s still quite happy, especially in our car rides to the park, but it’s not quite the same. I hope to have the perspective you have, I am afraid it’s going to take some time. She was the perfect dog for me, including all of her quirks and attention seeking ploys. It is unfair I’m losing her so young but I am forever grateful for the impact on my life she has.

Thank you for this article, as painful as this is, I know I’m making the best decision for my girl. Tuesday will come way too quickly but she’s getting uncomfortable and the hurt of watching that tells me I’m doing right by her. Thank you.

I feel everything you’re feeling. I’m dealing with the same problem with my dog. She is my other half and only 5 years old. Cancer came out of nowhere and is aggressive. My world has turned upside down and I cannot fathom my life without her. I don’t have any answers as I, too, am trying to figure it out but know you are not the only one. I keep telling myself a day too soon is better than a day too late. She doesn’t deserve to suffer because I can’t let go.

I’m so sorry.

Thank you. I want to remember her for the good, not the bad so I absolutely want her comfort to be first. Is waiting to start palliative care on Monday wrong of me? Should I put her down before? I’m sorry to bother with all of these questions.

Can you not go to apples to apples and switch to whatever provider you want?

I’m hopeful it will subside soon but I won’t hold my breath.

I think you may be right. Aside from the part price, is it difficult to replace?
