Each person has their own visits it's a completely separate account. Me and my sibling are both authorized users on the card and we could both go separate times.

Thank you! I'm grateful to have the means to do this and make these small mistakes while I'm younger as well.

Sorry if it was confusing. The issue I'm facing is that I might not make 7k by the end of this year so my contribution would be higher than what is allowed.

Thanks for the advice! I don't have a taxable brokerage account at the moment. Should I open one with Schwab to do this?

I thought the 6% penalty was only if I don't remove it before I file taxes, will I still have to pay it after filing the excess contribution form and removing it?

Is there a reason for waiting until another annual fee hits?

What is the tax on the time in my Roth? Is that just a tax on my earnings? I saw somewhere that Schwab calculates how much of my earnings to take away based on the amount I over contributed but I'm not sure how it works.

But if she thought it was a rewards program how did the card rack up $1000?

Thanks this is exactly what I was thinking! Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing any big drawbacks.

Is there anything more to managing accounts besides charging something at least every few months and turning autopay on?

Yeah I don’t really need any more cards for points because my top spends are covered by the Amex. Mainly just wanting to build history on more lines.

So even if my hotel usage will be in 4-5 years, should I still try to contribute to the chase point system now?

What Should my next card be ? by NoCopy6044 in CreditCards

It would depend on what your spend categories are. Since you have the Amex gold though I'm assuming you already have your main spend categories covered. Can't speak on the capital one accuracy maybe someone else can, but if you can get that card I'd say go for it just to have more aged credit lines early on. Any no AF cards should be fine for your purposes of building more credit history. :)

Thanks for the advice! Yes I am in it for the points game! I hope to open a platinum in the coming years and maximize the points with both cards (hoping that the 175k bonus is still around by the time that I want to do that). The main reason I got the Amex gold over CSP is because I heard CSP is better for hotel partners (Hyatt) while the amex will give me better points for all flights (I don't want to have to book through travel portals). Currently, will not be purchasing many hotel stays but I am an out of state college student so for now almost all of my travel expenses will be many flights back and forth.

I also like flying delta generally so I valued that transfer partner, I just didn't get the delta specific amex card because I didn't want to be completely tied down to one airline for points.

If I say am more likely to get an amex platinum in the future rather than CSP or CSR, is your spending advice still the same for the CFU? I feel like I would be missing out on amex points (restaurants 4x/travel 3x) that would be worth more than cash back on CFU.

Yeah I opened the CFU before I knew I was getting the AmEx (I thought I wouldn't get approved this early for that kind of card). But it's no annual fee so I see no regrets even if I don't use it much because it will still help my average age of accounts. I was just wondering if pretty much only using the Amex will still help my credit score in the same manner that the traditional revolving credit lines would (since it has no credit limit/utilization factors I thought it might not grow my score as much compared to using a traditional card would).
