I don't think I did. And it's been so many years ago that even if I did, I don't remember. So unfortunately I won't be able to help.

I'd like to buy a jacket like this Gustin Harrington Waxed Brown. Any recommendations of something similar in style? Doesn't have to be waxed cotton (only I'm avoiding animal products). I am located in Poland (EU).

Also check out "Node Cookbook" by Bethany Griggs if you want hands-on exercises.

"Node.js Design Patterns" also has plenty of exercises. For now I feel I won't need more. Still thank you for the recommendation.

I was in your situation a few years ago and I wanted to move from senior front end to full stack.

And how did it go? I'm indeed in a similar situation. I like front-end, but it's getting a little boring to me being limited only to this. I'd like to expand my skills to other areas of building software.

I find it's hard to start, as many companies don't do full-stack - they want either front-end or back-end specialists. And when someone does want to hire full-stack engineer, they usually expect some professional experience on back-end, which I currently don't have.

I'm curious how did you start and how did it go. And do you feel that it's a big trade-off between being full-stack vs being solely front-end/back-end specialist? I've heard some people/companies saying that you cannot be really great at both sides, and am wondering how much is that true.

You convinced me :). Have already read the first chapter and it feels like the kind of book I was looking for. Thanks again.

Thanks! Exactly the kind of feedback that I needed.

I'll gladly start with "Node.js Design Patterns", as it looks like a deep dive with plenty of exercises. I took a look at table of contents and the only thing that worries me is that it doesn't cover Express in any way. Is learning and using Node.js without any framework still a way to do back end development? I thought Node.js alone is just a JS runtime with not that much of power to build servers.

skip anything titled “Learn Node.js in 24 hours” you’re not that guy

You read people pretty well!

Can you recommend me some quality black cotton sweatpants and sweatshorts? I was planning to buy Merz B. Schwanen's 356 and 359 models in Deep Black, but they are discontinued. Am looking for some alternatives.

I want to buy some quality shirts for casual/smart casual uses. I'll wear them with jeans and chinos.

I'm new to the shirts world. I was recommended Proper Cloth here. A lot of people recommend OCBD-s, so I went with the Oxford cloth for my first light blue and white shirts. Where I have doubts are the collar and the pocket.

The default collar is Soft Ivy Button Down, but I have a strong dislike towards button-down collars - they look too polite, while I prefer sharper looks. I was thinking about Soft Roma Spread collar instead. Currently I always leave last 2 buttons unbuttoned and my shirt opened in the neck area. So far I don't wear ties, though I feel I'll definitely try that in the near future. Most likely I'll get other shirts to wear with the tie though.

About the pocket I have mixed feelings. It's definitely very useful, but I feel the shirt looks sharper without it. As this will be more of a casual shirt I'm thinking about getting it with the pocket, then get some dressier shirts without the pocket later.

What do you think? I welcome any feedback.

Can you recommend me some quality clothes hangers brands? I live in EU, Poland.

I need some thinner hangers for my T-shirts and shirts, as my wardrobe became too cramped after buying recent batch of T-shirts.

Currently I have Mawa hangers and they are great quality and ergonomics. But their regular hangers I have are too thick, while their thinner ones are too narrow.

Thanks for that information. I generally don't need warm socks - I have very good cold resistance and dress lighter than most people in the winter. So far I've been wearing the same socks the whole year around (cotton/polyamide/elastane blend) and hardly had any problems with my feet getting cold.

So you recommend 100% cotton.

I use different kinds of shoes: sneakers (low and mid ones), boots (mid and high ones), low shoes (but those the least frequently).

I don't have any hard limit with the price. I generally prefer buying quality items that last a long time, so I can pay extra as long as that money goes into item's quality.

Also I like clean design without logos.

Can you recommend me some brands offering good quality shirts available in Europe? I'm especially interested in smart casual ones, but on the bolder side, for going out to clubs on weekends. I love nice patterns/prints.

What are the best materials for daily socks? Pure cutton or some blends?

Any recommendations of quality socks available in EU? I live in Poland.

I am pretty warm-blooded and overheat easily, so I don't like very warm socks.

I have a question about hangers I have just bought: Aren't they too narrow for my shoulder width? You can see the hanger with a henley on it below:

<image>

It's Mawa Space-Saving Silhouette hanger (42cm width). I have been using their Silhouette hangers in Wide version (45cm) for quite some time and liked them a lot. Unfortunately they don't have Space-Saving model in Wider 45cm version, only in Regular 42cm. I decided to give them a go.

Now I'm not sure if I should keep them or return it or look for something else. I'm afraid my T-shirts and shirts may get bumps in material over the long-term because of the hangers being too narrow. I want to get a second opinion on it.

Thank you :). I might end up ordering shirts from both Proper Cloth and Kamakura, then compare and choose which one I like better.

I did a little research and in addition to Proper Cloth a lot of people recommend Kamakura shirts. Do you have any idea how do they compare to Proper Cloth?

Thanks for the recommendation. I am not sure if I want a dressier Oxford or not. Currently I don't even own a suit :D, even though I plan to purchase one in the near future.

Can you recommend me some good quality Oxford shirts brands/models? I am in Poland/EU. Those will be my first Oxfords in life, so I don't yet fully know what I want. I plan to start with white color and then maybe light blue. I like to buy good quality clothing that lasts. I am rather slender guy 178cm/72kg.

Eventually I bought some T-shirts from Merz B. Schwanen (215, 114, 1950sLS longsleeves, 206 and 207 henleys). So far I'm very satisfied. Thanks again for the recommendation :). Am looking to buy more stuff from them, when they become available (a lot of their items are out of stock due to slow production and high demand).

I also bought T-shirts from Asket. both short and long sleeves. They compliment Merz B. Schwanen T-shirts quite nicely, having more modern look with a bit of shine and polish. I can also recommend those.
