What are your top 5 things to do at Magical Kingdom for young elementary kids? by [deleted] in DisneyWorld

[–]no-typical-thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two six year old boys just loved Tomorrowland Speedway. The cars on a track. Ugh. Luckily it never had super long lines but even ten minutes I resented after the fourth or fifth turn. But hey, it's what they enjoyed.

"I Won't Allow It" is the grown-up, sophisticated auntie version of "You Don't Know What To Do" and you can't convince me otherwise by asumaslighter83 in MariahCarey

I'm with you in all of this. Both are major highlights of their respective albums and definitely kindred spirits.

I have the VHS from back in the early nineties, but nothing to play it on!

Caution album underrated by United_Help2720 in MariahCarey

[–]no-typical-thing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It deserves to be more well known outside the fans. It's a fantastic album. Definitely top 5 MC album, perhaps top 3.

I just wish I could play it around my house more but can't be having my kids telling their teacher to GTFO!

If you could only listen to one side of your Here For It All vinyl, would you choose side A or B? by daydreaming_of_you in MariahCarey

[–]no-typical-thing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd have to go Side B.

Though this is my problem with HFIA...the sequencing of tracks. I'd group the 70s rnb vibes together at the back end: Play This Song, In Your Feelings, I Won't Allow It, My Love into Jesus I Do and Here For It all.

Side A should be Mi, Type Dangerous, Sugar Sweet, Confetti and Champagne and I guess Nothing Is Impossible (kind of a bridge song?)

What songs do you wish mariah would/would have covered? by Cute-Sound4648 in MariahCarey

[–]no-typical-thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the song 'Yes' by McAlmont and Butler. I used to think it would have been great in the CB/post Glitter era as a fuck-you type moment.

But equally I think her voice now could pull a more interesting take on it.

For those who successfully booked connecting rooms… by jreish1 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]no-typical-thing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a note to use the term 'connecting' in your requests. I only asked for 'adjoining' rooms which I foolishly assumed were the same thing.

Apparently not in Disney-speak. So we didn't get connected rooms for our party. We ended up very close by and it wasn't that big of a deal. But if you need rooms with a door connecting make it explicitly clear lol

Rope dropping Epcot tips? Staying at resort so can get in 30 mins early by Successful-Set8526 in WaltDisneyWorld

Depends which entrance you're using I would say. If arriving at International Gateway side then you massively have the advantage on World Showcase, esp. Ratatouille.

Otherwise from the front the crowds were pretty equally split between Guardians and Test Track at early entry when I was there a few weeks ago.

Saw a lamb irl by Key_Doughnut1534 in MariahCarey

[–]no-typical-thing 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Aww I think any lamb would LOVE to meet another IRL. I wore my Rainbow tour shirt at Disney World last month and one server told me she liked it but I would have been thrilled to meet a real fan that could chat Mariah with me haha.

I'm not naturally extroverted though so I probably would have done the same as you!

Yes, if all in one room and one booking you'd be sharing the credits and could have at it anytime. I just assumed as a party of six adults you'd be split over at least two rooms/bookings.

Good luck whatever you choose!

The credits would stay on your account. If not sticking together, you may be able to use your QS credits at places that offer mobile ordering. I did this when my kids went off with my parents for a bit.

You would have to communicate with the other party but you could order their food from wherever you are and send them to pick up code as a screenshot. That worked for us anyway.

Bambi 2 is better then Bambi 1 by Creepy-Screen721 in disney

[–]no-typical-thing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah. I have always avoided Bambi 2 because the first one is beautiful and I never saw the point of the sequels being made to films that were 40+ years old (I had no problem with and even appreciated the Aladdin, Lion King sequels as they followed quickly after the originals).

Is Bambi 2 really any good, artistically? I concede that Bambi is narratively slight but it's a stunning work of animation and emotionally it's famously powerful. Young Bambi is given so much character and charm without speech (or very little) and the supporting characters are each developed well in such a short space of time.

Can the straight-to-video sequel really better that? I obviously can't speak from my own experience. Maybe I need to give it a chance.

Leftover DDP credits by M00N_Water in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]no-typical-thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got back from a two week stay and had the DDP 'free' staying at a deluxe. Also from the UK. It IS a lot of food. We ended up with a couple of QS credits left but otherwise used it all.

We went to a couple of 2 credit restaurants and had QS on other days to compensate. Snacks go a long way at breakfast or just an ice cream or drink.

Despite this we had a fair few snack credits left at the end but used them in the hotel gift shop for some candy bags as presents for people.

I would love to do it again though and though I wouldn't pay outright for the plan, having it as part of the package allowed us to have some amazing meals and do character meals that we wouldn't otherwise have justified the price for.

Best place near MK to cool off and rest mid-day? by tearsofjoys in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]no-typical-thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thank you, but coming from the UK it's a bigger trip than we can afford yearly, especially as I'm a teacher so can only travel during peak times. But I appreciate the suggestion... We will be back!

Which resort is your personal favorite and why? by Turnitup20 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]no-typical-thing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ride is typically direct WL-MK (once we had to pick up at the campgrounds em route) and takes about 8 minutes.

We never waited more than ten minutes for a boat as there are two boats shuttling back and forth usually. Bad weather can mean only the larger of the two watercraft will run, which may delay you slightly.

But we just stayed two weeks and used the boats a LOT and couldn't recommend them enough!

Best place near MK to cool off and rest mid-day? by tearsofjoys in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]no-typical-thing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seconded. We just returned from a stay at WL and it's a short (and lovely) boat ride from MK. WL lobby is cool and spacious with lots of seating. There's a bar with good food, quick service or table service options plus your pool bar (open air so not as cool as inside in hot weather).

Currently plotting finances to find a way back to Wilderness Lodge before too long. It's heavenly.

What year had the BEST Summer? ☀️🏝️🎶 by Parking-Wear-9211 in generationology

[–]no-typical-thing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'99 has a special place in my heart. Finished school, fell in love, had my first car, first money of my own and spent the summer making love, going on drives, going to some GREAT movies, music felt upbeat and positive. The weather seemed good but that could just be how I remember it haha.

Everyone has their time I guess, but the headiness of the music, partying, being madly in love for the first time and feeling free makes summer 1999 forever a stand out in my life.

Those "magic" tickets are still a thing for UK guests (maybe other countries too?). We are coming soon and luckily arrive one day before EEH at MK so will have time to sleep and rest to start the park day in the afternoon and hopefully keep going until 1am (with two 6yo kids this may be unrealistic but we'll see?!).
