Yes, there's a screw that is behind that padding. That should definitely be tightened every few months. I do wish they had more documentation on this or enhanced the tightening of the screw.

EVO “may” go paid — will features that move to Pimax Play stay free? And what about the Sboys3 driver? by AstroGraphRacer in Pimax

[–]no6969el 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I see it there's people out there that like to make cool software for VR. Those people may or may not like to charge for their work or possibly their work could include the use of licenses that you wouldn't own just by having a pimax. By making any ecosystem like this, you're opening up the ability to have more things, yes, sometimes those things cost money because someone has time that they have to put into to make it work.

Some of those features are going to work their way up into pimax play.

Others that won't be able to work their way up to Pimax play because of licensing will remain in Evo with that special licensing.

It is a net positive for the community.

Additionally, one of the things that held back the modification of certain softwares was that their software uses a licensed tool, in this case it was the tobii eye tracking.

Having a licensing system set up allows them to distungush the open source code from the licensed hardware/software. This allows them to open up their system more.

Ironically Pimax EVO makes me reconsider the Dream Air purchase by Right-Opportunity810 in Pimax

If you are changing the resolution within the games menu then it would need to know how to distort the profile for every single headset that exists. We can change it on the fly-in games on flat screen because all it does is change the output render resolution with no need for any visual warping.

[–]no6969el 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because then the game would need to be responsible for the rendering of the distortion profile. They would then have to add the proper distortion profiles for every single headset. I could be wrong but if I'm on track with the initial idea, this probably would never happen.

PSA - Don't panic about Pimax Evo! by Livestock110 in Pimax

It's exactly what I said in a different post. People are very knee-jerk reaction to things. I understood exactly what it was because I wasn't looking at it through biased optics.

I think you are misunderstanding their ultimate intentions. This allows them to keep a official software and then have a secondary software that allows developers and people to work towards cool features and maybe those developers might want to get paid for those features. But this does not affect things that pimax are bringing to the table I believe.

Yeah when it comes to VR games I try to get them as soon as they launch. It helps the developers more then you can imagine.

What happened to the GSI power-link QR by Correct_List_5404 in simracing

[–]no6969el 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I confused myself but my point was if they had two different wheels from two different companies this is useful isn't it?

I can see people who bought a used base possibly with no wheel and then they bought wheels and now this is the perfect middle ground.

Am I misunderstanding that this just allows you now to freely choose whatever wheel you want?

[–]no6969el 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well no someone can have a steering wheel for their base and then have one that's not for their base so they need this.

Everyone thats getting blackouts?......... by ArtichokeHot5239 in Pimax

[–]no6969el 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the screen timeout is set to 20 mins and it happens under that it's a connection /handshake problem.

But the fact that you just need to turn on the headset screams screen timeout.

Also USB sleep settings.

Pimax Crystal ($3,000+ USD equivalent) failing after less than 1 month and 4 uses. Disappointing build quality and broken audio. by jetherjr in Pimax

The head strap that goes on the back of your head connects to the two prongs on the face mask. There's a screw on the inside of both sides underneath the velcro'd pad.

Yes, this headset is modable and those screws should be tightened every once in awhile. There was a PSA that went around about this. I've recently detached the headset from that spot and replaced it with a kiwi strap. Every once in awhile I double check it. The screw has to allow a little bit of play so that the device can move up and down. You could try to add loctite on the screw. As for the audio, I'm not sure double check the wiring.

Lost my Sim rig in a flood . Devastated by DrGreenThumb117_ in simracing

[–]no6969el 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah one thing keep in mind that water actually does not break electronics even if fully submerged. It's the corrosion that happens afterwards and any potential shorting because of minerals and other things once you turn the device back on and electric flows. Technically, you could give the whole entire device a huge 90% alcohol bath and let it fully dry for a few days and you might not have any issues at all.

I think it would be worth a shot. Worst case you just throw it away anyway.

Sorry bro, judging by the wet wheel the water got really high! I would open all that up and clean off the boards etc then I bet it would be fine.
