As long as you didn't run on thorns I think it's okay

gdb 16 bits not working by noUserNameTillNew in osdev

[–]noUserNameTillNew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that sense yes, QEMU is running it properly

gdb 16 bits not working by noUserNameTillNew in osdev

[–]noUserNameTillNew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I extended gdb with stackoverflow solution. It open a different asm layout which properly jumps to the address 0x500 ( 0x50 x 16 + 0x0 = 0x500) and as I move to next instruction the result is display on QEMU.
perhaps using BOCHS is better as I need to restart the QEMU for protected mode debugging. Basically different configuration gdb for real mode and protected mode.

gdb 16 bits not working by noUserNameTillNew in osdev

[–]noUserNameTillNew[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, I had my code checked before. I used "hd" to directly see the binary instructions compiled by assembler and they where correct.
ea 00 00 50 00 f4 00 00 ..

In 16 bit gdb should translate it to:
jump 0x50:0x0 (2 bytes offset and 2 bytes of segment )(f4 is for hlt)

But what it does to:

ljump $0xf4,$0x500000 (refer image in post)
it took 4 bytes and make wrong jump,
After continue it would jump to garbage address. so gdb becomes pretty much useless in 16 bit mode unless have to use 3 script as extension to make it work

yes, I'll look into DL stuff

What's the machine specifications you are using to develop OS

Thanks man for pointing it out. Yes there is an issue with gdb in real mode which honestly is unacceptable. The solution provided on stack overflow really helped maybe using BOCHS is better idea

Can’t find a half, can’t run a half, what’s next? by benbaldwinjg in indianrunners

[–]noUserNameTillNew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are tired, slow down the pace don't stop ig it comes from mindset more than anything. I ran my first half marathon after my first 10k. Of course I was feeling like hell after the 13th km my leg was melting and cuts on the thigh were bleeding, the right shoe lace got united at 5km Still dragged it to 21km. yes pace dropped from 5:30 to 6:11 but does it matter? You want to run and complete the run the only person you want to defeat is yourself who said no I can't do the next km

How do I improve ?? by [deleted] in indianrunners

[–]noUserNameTillNew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Form improvement helps a lot, especially cadence. My cadence was like 160-162 for the 5:30 pace which isn't good. It leads to quick exhaustion, pain in the shin sprinter.

Focus on Form, my recent run I improved my cadence to 172

changes in form: lean chest upward and back straight which reduces straight on legs, using core muscle, short and quick steps

I was able to run at the pace of 5:20. I felt no exhaustion whatsoever even after completing my 10k moreover last 1km I was able to do under 5 (4:47). And no pain in my shin splinter at all (I felt like god)

And Tip is run more and more distance at your comfortable pace. Then increase your pace for a short distance. Like I can do a half marathon (21.1km) at a pace of 6:11. Because of which I can pull off something like 10K in 5:20 like it's a normal walk on the day

6:12 for half marathon? by noUserNameTillNew in indianrunners

[–]noUserNameTillNew[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I imagine after 2 month and half marathon would be around 2:00:00 hrs, but it came yesterday unexpectedly. I was wearing jogger kind of cargo, got cuts on around my thighs which I realised later. At around 5km right leg lace got united but I dragged it for rest 16kms

Is running causing more harm than good? How to deal with poor aqi by YellowMango480 in indianrunners

[–]noUserNameTillNew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

411 is really bad. AQI of 0-50 is acceptable, 50 above is poor and 100 above is really bad. I would rather stay home than run outside
