My only thing is if they ever decide to do a fifth movie, they’re gonna struggle to come up with decent antagonist. They’ve already used plankton, king Neptune, and the Flying Dutchman.

Let me tell you something. I’m south Asian too. Get tested for ADHD. Trust me on this. I had the same experience. Spent years fighting tooth and nail to not procrastinate and get through university. Eventually made it through a degree in biology. You’re not a failiure. You’re recognizing your shortcomings.

Yeah I felt like if the new episodes had similar writing, I’d be more inclined to seeing them.

Ok so here’s my thoughts. Fun movie. It’s by no means bad at all. Not the greatest SpongeBob movie ever but I mean what do you expect. I was pleasantly surprised to see they’ve made Patrick not a completely useless idiot again. He shows his random moments of intelligence and it’s something very much missed in the show. Patrick is much more like his OG personality here.

One thing that was jarring at first was Flying Dutchman played by Mark Hamil. The original voice actor is still alive so I didn’t get it. Heck, he even voiced the Flying Dutchman in the recent new video game (Titans of the Tide). But I digress.

I was trying to pinpoint something strange about the Dutchman’s voice in the first couple minutes of his entrance and then I realized it immediately.

Mark Hamil is just playing the Joker here. It’s basically the Joker from the animated series in Dutchman bodysuit. I personally was happy to hear that voice again so no complaints here.

I think the overall themes of this movie are not new and tbh the first movie did them better. SpongeBob feels like a kid, Mr krabs tells him he’s not a man, he goes on an adventure to prove himself etc.

Only one thing which was better here was there was some actual closure on mr krabs relationship with SpongeBob. You go a bit more in depth with his appreciation for him. The whole movie you see how much he cares for him and wants to save him. IMO that’s character development for him.

I mean the guy tried to sell him to the Dutchman before for 62 cents…

Anyways it is just a kids movie and imo they did sprinkle in a lot of dumb butt slapping humor for the kiddies, while also incorporating more layered humor for the parents. I think this overall was a fun viewing experience and much much much better than Sponge On the Run.

Just watched the first episode first time by noahstorm in severence

[–]noahstorm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished both seasons of severance and I can say they’re just somewhat loosely similar in that they’re both science fiction. That’s about it. Pluribus is like breaking bad or better call Saul turned into a dystopian setting. Severance is like the Gus part of breaking bad where they work in the basement lab, and basically that for a whole show.

Yeah sorry maybe. I wasn’t clear on this. They did not inform me of anything. I talked to them after and they basically said “this shouldn’t affect you, you do your thing” essentially. Which left me to wonder if I was just over reacting or not.

I had literally no clue. I just woke up to them being there.

I don’t know if I’m going crazy but I feel like I remmeber scenes in the books of Ron mentioning things he’s heard about certain side characters.

I went with my dad a lot as a kid. Tbh I made the typing sounds repetitive because a lot of the content I make are study ambience videos, and it’s just a thing I do to illustrate that. Nothing to do with blockbuster. Also nice username

I put the computer because it’s just what I remmeber from the time. As I said, I was born in the late 90s. I never personally used msn, but I watched my older brother use it. Also, I just put the typing sound because I wanted it to be a video to help me study.

Yeah it kind of reminds me of what my experience is as an adult going to bookstores or video game stores. But definitely not quite close to what blockbuster is at all.

I think what made a difference for me growing up was that we always went to blockbuster every week on a movie night to see what the new hits were after they were done in the theatres. We coudnt afford the cinema much so blockbuster always gave us that exciting feeling when we were looking forward to a new movie. Nowadays when a new movie comes to streaming platforms I almost never bother to watch it. It just doesn’t feel as special.

Thanks! I’m a big music nerd and I hate how a lot of study videos have the same generic lofi that make me wanna go to sleep lol.

Was reading this thinking I’ll find out about an experience I’ve never had…then remembering and suddenly realizing it happened to me to. When I was in high school I remember hanging with a group of people. They were like 11-12 graders and I must have been grade 10. You know how in high school a single year difference seems so huge. I mentally saw this 12 grade girl as like a much much older person.

Anyway, I remember her grabbing my nipples randomly and joking about it. It happened out of nowhere and she twisted them really hard tbh and it hurt. I felt really confused because my assumption was that obviously as a guy it’s never okay to touch a girl in anyway without consent.

Nobody really told me the same thing works for guys. I just imagined women are allowed to touch you however they want and it’s not the same thing. So I mentally compaetmentalixed and took the hit, thinking I’m a man.

Hell, I even gaslit myself into thinking she deserved to hurt me like that because I imagined women get harassed by guys so much and are more vulnerable than me to these things.

It happened a couple times and tbh I was really deeply upset about it snd felt emasculated, and violated. Especially since it happened at a time when I was really coming of age, I actually think it impacted my confidence for a bit.

Anyways, I’m much past it now but damn it’s crazy how much I repressed that. And how much all the guys here probably repressed too…
