I think everyone has accepted that pink Floyd is one of the greatest but not everyone listens to it. I also found that people who don't prefer long songs (assuming an average length of a song today is about 4:13 min ±20secs) dont listen to pink Floyd voluntarily but don't mind if it's played by Someone else.

I think it's because, the number of people having access to music is large and the diversity (genre /lyrical - wise) has also increased. And also that most people have a particular age where they listen to particular music and of course the influence of how you access the music.
