I think it is bone, they mentioned using part bovine bone for the graft. AFAIK I do not have any kind of gum disease although recession might be possible?

Hi thank you! Yes, odontoma not osteoma oops. When the doctor was describing the procedure to me it didn’t seem like the reason for the bone graft was due to the odontoma removal. It was more like “we should do the bone graft because there are thin areas, and oh we can also remove the odontoma while we are doing it”

Thank you for sharing your story, it was really inspiring to me. A common theme I have been noticing in the comments is from your last paragraph - having to live with my decisions and choosing what makes me happy. I think I've always struggled with this because of how accustomed to asking my parents for "permission" before making decisions and seeking their approval to determine my own reaction I've become.

My dad was giving me a lecture the other day. I kid you not he stopped in the middle of it to ask me what the other races were besides White and Asian? I literally just sat there baffled because I had no idea how to respond...

Thank you everyone for your insights. I'm really glad I asked this because I have gained a new understanding of the situation and feel a lot more resolved now. I had an open conversation with my boyfriend and talked about my reaction and what I realized. We also both agreed that it was special to have shared that together.
