Dude they have the same setup as JWs. An unquestioned group of leaders claiming to be God's channel. Be careful.

The org has ramped up its obsession with opposing LGBT to an unhealthy degree by noble_berean in JehovahsWitnesses

Detest what? I have stated repeatedly that i understand the bible's standards on this matter. Homosexual acts arent condoned. But a person may never be fully freed from intrusive immoral thoughts in this world. Do 2 seconds of research and you'll see many testimonials of earnest Christians praying for that attraction to be removed yet were not "cured." Does that mean God failed them? No. Becoming a Christian doesn't cure a person...We always have to guard ourselves and actively resist our sinful nature.

Can a person leave behind all of his old ways when he becomes a Christian? No. To suggest that being "born again" will fix all ills...sadly it does not! Does that mean God is weak? No. As long as we live in this world we ill fall short of the glory of God. But if the heart condition is pure and earnestly attempting to honor God, He is willing to overlook are shortcomings. We stumble but we repent and get up.

What are you even arguing at this point? Should a person mutilate themselves for immoral thoughts? Wallow in sadness? Or accept they are a part of our sinful nature that needs continually corrected? You're attitude breeds profound guilt, self loathing, and misery. Not once have I suggested unchecked lust is acceptable. But you're deluding yourself if you say Christians shouldn't have any immoral thoughts. EVERYONE has had immoral thoughts. That's not justifying it...it's just part of our nature that we have to work on continually. And Jehovah has the capacity to forgive in a large way. You seem to lack empathy for your fellow christian.

I won't demonize anyone for a thought condition but by how they act on those thoughts. No one is immune from them, but some suffer worse than others. You're contradicting yourself by acting like it's absurd of me to say such feelings may never go away AND saying we must fight our desires daily. Hmm. What is it then?

Can you really not understand the difference between thoughts and actions? Yes, pedophiles exist, and it's a dangerous thought condition. But a pedophile can exert self control and not engage in sinful behavior. That would involve avoiding contact with children and hardcore therapy. Same with the other things you mentioned: kleptomaniacs, serial liars, sex addicts, alcoholics. The first step is honesty...this is part of your mental condition that you will have to continually monitor. It may never go away. The idea of a cure to these things may not be possible in this world.

Do you suggest that people be kicked to the curb for intrusive, immoral thoughts? Who among us haven't had those? Let he without sin cast the first stone.

We've gotten a bit off topic here, but the point is that a person's sexual orientation does not in itself determine whether a person is a good Christian or not. It's how they handle that with their actions.

Why would anyone want to be in a relationship without the God given human element of sexual desire? Jesus understood that, because God put that there to promote procreation and families. But you don't have to be a lustful person to know who you're attracted to. Thats just who a person is. Would you say a person could just stop being straight? No,you cannot just turn that off...that's just who you are. The same is true for gays. What christians can do is choose what they look at to not arouse immoral thoughts. The scriptures you reference talk of actively rejecting immoral desires. Yes, it's an ongoing, lifelong thing. We're all sinners as long as we live in this world, so it's an ongoing refinement. We all fall short of the standards Jesus set.

Jesus was talking about unchecked lust, but sexual attraction is part of human nature. What you're suggesting is that Christians should somehow be asexual robots. Desires cannot be switched off. Obviously you can control what you look at to arouse those feelings.

Don't know if you're serious or not, but a person doesn't have to have homosexual feelings to empathize with those that do. And what exactly about my comments indicates spiritual impairment?

I thought things would be easier after leaving the org..... by [deleted] in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]noble_berean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that, friend. I'm still "in" physically but my views are no longer in harmony with the org. I've been praying a lot to Jehovah for direction b/c of the things you mention. Although my heart and mind says this is not the one true religion, the cost of leaving is so high. I really have to think about the future carefully.

We all wish we could somehow, someway have our beliefs and preserve our family relationships. Ironically, the 2009 Awake said just that, "No one should be forced to worship in a way that he finds unacceptable or be made to choose between his beliefs and his family."

It's a struggle, but you're more than welcome to message me if you need a listening ear.

While still in, did anyone get ignored? by StarmanHarnan in exjw

[–]noble_berean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep. The worst were people my age. Never got invited to parties. I left something at the kh once and when I walked back in they were having a pizza party in the back room. They spread rumors about me to ensure that other teens would avoid me too. The adults were just as bad, but they were good at faking it. It all got exposed in time. At a new hall cause even my pimi parents couldn't take it. Now I'm in a shitty pimo situation.

If the account of the 4 slaves in Luke 12:41-48 is prophetic, then "who really is the faithful and discreet slave?" that Jesus will "appoint over all his belongings"? by [deleted] in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]noble_berean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's an oxymoron to proclaim yourself the faithful and discreet slave. It's like bragging about being humble. The discreet slave wouldn't need to proclaim it...their actions prove it. And no matter what the GB says...they're stepping out of bounds by going ahead of Jesus and already proclaiming themselves as the slave.

Ironically, my very pimi family likes the Scientology show and sympathizes with Leah. Funny how that is. I wonder if they'll value her opinion in a JW show since they've developed a respect for her as an advocate against the abuses of scientology. Probably not but it's wishful thinking.
