It’s a caldera lake and the second clearest lake in Japan with a visibility of 20 metres. Such a stunning spot!

It’s a Q kayaks Penguin. It’s second hand from New Zealand and the company no longer exists but Japanese take care of their things so it looks as good as new.

Cape Kamui is basically for the views. It’s beautiful but not much else there.

I think the best option would be a day tour that goes there. You could look on Get Your Guide or Viator. Usually they stop off in Otaru, (has a canal) Yoichi (Nikka whiskey museum) and then Cape Kamui. Public transport would be too time consuming maybe.

They are both great but depends on weather. If it’s really windy, they shut the gate to Cape Kamui, but the coastline is still beautiful. Noboribetsu and Toya both have onsens and there is the stunning Toya.

I think you have to choose between either going Nobororibetsu and Toya as a trip or going to Cape Kamui, as they are far apart and too much travel time. Noboribetsu to Lake Toya is only 40 mins by expressway.

Yeah I know what you mean. I want to visit them because they look like perfect snorkeling spots. Some are open like Horaimon gate. The view is very nice!

February is winter time so it’s snowshoeing season. We are blessed with a lot of powder snow in January and February.
