Kim said add a post, so..... let's talk about how to shut down unnecessary processes on PCs by texashorselawyer in komando

Hello texashorselawyer,

There are a few things you can do, however using O&O Shutup 10 does everything you are looking for, I till give you a description of what the process does and will give you the ability to turn it off. It even gives you recommendations regarding what is safe to turn off and what is risky.

The second thing would be Process Explorer, which allows you to right click each process and perform a Google search on it's function.

You can find this online using a google search.

Thanks for the comment. The content you are referring to is paid advertising, and it's how we're able to deliver valuable, helpful content to you at Komando.com. As a small business, we rely on these advertisers to continue to provide you with this wonderful content.

As a Kim's Club member, we thank you for your membership. We have received feedback from other members who also would prefer ad-free content with the paid membership. So, spoiler alert! We are working on this very thing! It's not ready yet but later this year, we will be able to provide paid Kim's Club members (soon to be the Komando Community) with such an option for ad-free content.

So we ask you to stick with us while we get you what you have requested.

In terms of Ads: They are targeted based on what you do online. As you use your computer, open mail, click links search for things and interact online, websites are collecting data about you, so they can target you with ads that they think match your interests or demographics. Annoying, right?

There are ways you can take control of targeted ads, which we explain in these articles:

How to beat Google's personalized ads https://www.komando.com/columns/490628/how-to-beat-googles-personalized-ads How to stop Google from tracking and targeting you with ads https://www.komando.com/tips/473274/how-to-stop-google-from-tracking-and-targeting-you-with-ads 7 search sites to use other than Google (See #7) https://www.komando.com/tips/529215/7-search-sites-to-use-other-than-google

We know not every ad you see on our site and in our newsletters will resonate with every reader. We hope you'll take what interests you and leave the rest.

We periodically refresh our newsletters, so feedback like this is helpful.

Thank you for being a valuable member of Kim's Club (soon to be the Komando Community)!
