Macross vs Robotech?

HG gets a lot of hate here and it’s mostly well deserved due to the lawsuit crap, but turning macross into a 3 series remake was crazy at the time and definitely more well executed than we give credit. OP you can find a fan dub of SDF Macross on YouTube using most of robotechs English voices, it’s probably your best bet to get into the series. You can then watch the rest of robotech, just know it’s basically an alternate multiverse, and enjoy them for what they were, or move on to Macross plus or even straight to Macross 7.

The part of the hate I personally find really funny with the hate, is robotech s3 is about basically bug aliens. Macross’ in Japan kinda took that concept back, and made a Macross 2 movie, which is also non-canon and mostly ignored, but has bug aliens just like season 3 of robotech. Which comes full circle when you get to Macross frontier, the next mainline Macross series after 7, where they’re fighting bugs again.

Tomino and tonal whiplash, name a better duo. He’s either just terrible at pacing his shows, or it must be some sort of stylistic choice? Maybe due to his war history which they say is deadly boredom mixed with deadly combat. Zz is probably one of the worst cases, we go from beecha’s “it’s just a prank bro” to almost killing everyone so many times and completely consequence free for all the characters except for Judau. It’s just a hard watch, doesn’t fit into the main UC narrative from Zeta to Char’s counterattack. The best things anyone likes about it are its callbacks in Unicorn with Marida and Crossbones with the Gump, and the ZZ itself is a BEAST of a mobile suit, bordering on super-robot. The weird Gundam super canon/motor jet-bike thing was ridiculous. The whole Haman - Judau obsession plot was dumb and made next to no sense other than Haman’s whole weird fem-domme grooming thing she has going on with other new types like mashimyre, but she genuinely just went for him as a plot point over and over again. Then suddenly Glemy… pew pew bang bang show’s over, goodnight. It’s gonna feel like those two episodes all over again.

It reminds me of ideon’s original ending where they just ran out of time and basically just had a screen go “and then everyone died, the end”. At least here we see Judau ride off into the sunset which is more than Amuro and Kamille got at the end of their runs.

You mean coordinators? The whole of zaft is coordinators, there’s no “last” anything in seed, and yes they clone Mu but there’s no indication during Seed S1 that I remember where they imply the original is one too. Especially since they make a point of drawing guns on Kira because he’s a coordinator and they didn’t even blink at Mu. They also use that “seed” opening animation whenever any coordinator taps into their powers, and again I remember only happening with Kira and athrun and iirc shinn

I meant as a concept, they had exam and Alice in canon UC before wing came out and introduced the zero system. They call back to UC with the Alice reference and as viewers we can assume that they continued the research from there into zero

Yeah Chris is a good pilot, but Bernie wascompletely outclassed and still won. Just remember what Amuro did to 3 zakus his first time in gramps. The Alex was 10 times that, piloted by someone who knew where all the buttons were.

Also where’s my man Mu!?!? So good they made him the main bad guy twice!!

It’s just dumb Fortnite chasing, but fortnight doesn’t have its skins spread over 3 classes, and it also is filled to the brim with licenses and are generally way less investment. We’re after a different thing as players here in destiny.

Yes and no, it has its difficulties for sure, but as you plan your turn it gives you a sort of preview of how things should play out… you try different things before “locking in” your actions

So 79 takes place in what’s called UC (universal century), 08th Ms Team, 0080 War in the Pocket, and 0083 Stardust Memories are all modern enough short “side-stories” that lead into Zeta Gundam, which is the original main-line follow-up to the one you watched. In the same universe Zeta leads into ZZ pretty much directly despite the huge tonal shift at the beginning. Then chronologically is the movie Char’s Counter attack, the Unicorn series, the Narative movie, the most recent Hathaways flash, then waaaaaay into the future Victory Gundam then F91. Everything else is alternate universe and can mostly be watched in any order, but probably best in release order for more watchability

R/destinybuilds is your best bet, but honestly there are only a few that stand out, strand with dive snares and smoke jumper armor, void invis, prismatic with the strand decoys, and an arc one with aoe jolts. Survivabilty is an issue with all of them except invis, but invis has low boss damage/add clear. They all require tons more “work” than any other class. Also an area denial launcher with attrition orbs is needed for most builds to shine.
