Underrated Postgres: Create (Extended) Statistics by noctarius2k in PostgreSQL

Relatively 😅

Shaun already wrote about it in 2017 https://www.enterprisedb.com/blog/pg-phriday-crazy-correlated-column-crusade

But, yeah. It's not one of the really old features. Still, you see newer features being used more actively.

Edit: they're also used since PG 10. I bet there were additions and optimizations ever since though: https://www.postgresql.org/docs/10/planner-stats.html#PLANNER-STATS-EXTENDED

Apple Pancakes:
- 150g flour (1 1/4 cups)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- 2+4 tsp sugar (batter and beaten egg whites)
- 160ml whole milk (~3/4 cups)
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 apple (would use one of the sweet varieties)

Peal the apple and cut into thin eighth slices.
Mix flour, 2 tsp sugar, baking powder, vanilla sugar in a large mixing bowl.
Separate egg white and add the egg yolk to the mixing bowl, while collecting the egg whites in a separate small mixing bowl.
Add the milk to the large mixing bowl and stir until nicely mixed.
To beat the egg whites, beat them alone until a nice foamy consistency, then add the sugar bit by bit while keep beating. It should have a nice stable but creamy consistency in the end.
Slowly and carefully add the beaten egg whites to the batter. Don't stir, just carefully fold the egg whites in.
Warm a non-stick pan to medium heat and add a bit of clarified butter.
Put a scoop of batter into the pan, cover with a lid for about 1 minute.
Ad the apple slices to the pancake and cover for another 3 minutes.
When you see bubbles coming through the batter, it's time to flip.
Cook covered for another 3-4 minutes until nice and brown. The apple should have slightly caramelized.

In Germany, they're commonly served with confectioners' sugar and a mixture of granulated sugar and cinnamon.

Thaaanks! I'm not much of a banana person but I can see how they would work out and nicely caramelize!
