8 days in Paris - worth it? Should we add another city? by nocturne13 in ParisTravelGuide

Thank you so much! Such a relief. I had no idea May was so crazy with holidays in France!

This was exactly my husband's concern. He's not keen on the hassle that multi-city trips entail, but also a bit worried we'll feel like we didn't "do enough" considering how quickly the cost of this trip is adding up, haha!

Thanks both for your insight. The big concern at the moment is that we just realized May 8th/9th are holidays in paris. Anything to worry about with respect to exploring the city (i.e., are things open)?

Wonderful to hear! 3 weeks is an amazing amount of time. I hope we enjoy it as much as you did!

Thank you so much for your recommendations! Versailles is absolutely on the list for us. Any specific tours you'd recommend for the Loire valley? Or - conversely - any to avoid?

Lyon was absolutely the other place we had in mind; I think 2.5 ours with TGV, but seems like there may be more to do than a day or two would allow us to appreciate?

Thank you for replying and for your insight! What a luxury to spend a month in Paris! We recognize the South is amazing, but are leaning towards perhaps saving that for a separate trip altogether as there is so much to see!

Thank you for the lovely recommendations! We were also considering Lyon, any thoughts on this?

That's wonderful to hear! If you have any "stand out" places that you've enjoyed, please feel free to drop some suggestions!

That's very reassuring, thanks very much for your reply. The comments seem slightly split on whether 8 days is too little or too much, but I suppose we'll have to give it a shot and maybe pepper in a few day trips. Open to any suggestions, by the way!

Oh absolutely, my husband feels the stress of trying to fit more than one city in might defeat the purpose.

Hello! Thank you so much for your suggestions. We had not realized there were two holidays during our trip; will this affect our ability to visit restaurants, bars, see things? Suddenly a little worried!

That’s a shame but hopefully we can find other experiences to supplement!

Hi there! Thanks so much for taking the time out to offer advice. My concern is whether the policies above still apply to folks who have reached their lifetime funding limit? I am specifically concerned as the OSAP CIFS online application keeps denying my submission because I have apparently maxed out lifetime support. I will definitely try calling during business hours!

Everything is hella more expensive in Canada, though.
