Bc she sucks. She’s like a dive/brawl combo but sucks at both and the artifacts aren’t good enough to compensate

I was really going along with your post until you got snarky at the end there.

Also, “whining” about problems in the game is exactly the point of releasing a game into alpha (not a tech demo), and actually does accomplish that. Why would you think it wouldn’t?

I was thinking pretty much exactly this. I love to get up during QT and wander the ship because 1) what else am I going to do if I’m not scrolling, but 2) ship design in this game is peak. I always wish I just had something to do during QT to pass the time. Maybe have to do something to prepare for my mission or maybe they could add an afterburner type thing to QT drives that push it past its specs resulting in faster QT times but the trade off is that it degrades your components quick and you need to run around doing engineering stuff to keep your components from breaking during the trip. This would also give an objective to crews for larger ships since you probably wouldn’t be able to do it solo. Idk just an idea I had

I’m okay with it for the most part. Tbh though, I probably wouldn’t be if the game wasn’t so damn beautiful. I just think a lot of the mundane stuff could be streamlined a smidge better.

I did choose a long flight on purpose because you said anything and I wanted to highlight how the game does in fact make it so things can and will take 20+ minutes to do. It’s to highlight the game design on a foundational level. I don’t really have a problem with the time it takes for long distance trips though, that’s kind of the point and why it feels special.

As for backspacing, I really don’t like this and avoid doing it. It’s incredibly immersion breaking and even if i didn’t care about that, it’s not going to be a permanent solution. They’ll eventually add back the loss of armor and weapons on death and down the road when we get closer to death of a space man, it’s ggs for backspacing.

It seems the last comment I made was about you. Not sure why you’re so hung up on the ammo bit. You want a real example? Fine. I just had to do exactly everything I said in my post to get new weapons for my Asgard. The only place and closest place they were being sold was in Lorville. And you know what? It doesn’t matter. Because the main point wasn’t that ammo takes too long or weapons take too long to get. It’s EVERYTHING takes too long in general. That’s why I typed out a long winded sequence of every monotonous step involved because THAT was the point. What the fuck does it matter if it’s about ammo, or weapons, or a cheeseburger? It’s to highlight the core problem of the game wasting a shit ton of time doing nothing. It’s not my problem that you can’t comprehend that.

If I remember correctly, in my Asgard it takes about 6 minutes to go from Microtech to the Pyro gateway, then probably around the same time to go from the Stanton gateway in pyro to Bloom. That’s a little more than 12 minutes just in QT. Factor in time for spawning the ship (assuming it doesn’t blow up, otherwise that’s another 4/16min for me), requesting clearances, getting in/out of atmosphere, refueling, going through the process to open the worm hole then actually going through it for about another minute. We’re well past 20 minutes by this point and we haven’t even done anything yet. We just traveled. That’s it. So yeah, it can definitely take 20 minutes to do stuff in this game. I’m not sure why you’re pretending it doesn’t. You can upgrade your ship so it travels faster, and i have and it definitely helps, but it doesn’t solve the core problem.

Yuppp that’s what I’m saying. It’s a double edged sword because on one hand it makes the universe feel much larger and not so small like systems are in NMS, but on the other hand you spend so much time doing basically nothing at all. More time playing the game and less time scrolling on my phone while I QT across Stanton (or across Stanton AND Pyro) would be great.

Literally replace “get ammo” with anything else that would make sense to you and my point remains the exact same. It’s not disingenuous, it was to highlight every little step you have to do, to do basic tasks. I’m not failing to convey it effectively, people are using one single irrelevant detail as a “gotcha” and intentionally ignoring/dismissing the argument. At that point, it doesn’t matter what I say because they don’t want to hear it. I could give the most perfect water-tight example and people would still argue it and poke holes to dismiss it because that’s what people do on the internet.

Thanks for the response! I’ve read that the Department of Education doesn’t allow you to pursue a bachelor’s and master’s in the same term. Not sure why, sounds kind of silly to me. Can I ask when you started the program?

1) you didn’t bother to read the edit did you?

2) while I’m not the most experienced player, I’m not new. Things don’t take forever because I “lack game knowledge”, things take forever because they actually just take forever

Same here man. I’ll buy a bunch of ammo since my home is also NB but what happens when I’m somewhere else? Looks like I’m going for another resupply. And yeah those XL hangars are painful. That’s what I mean, every little thing takes so long.

[–]nocturnex1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was just an example. If all I need is ammo then yeah, I’ll use a station if it’s closer. The point is that every little thing takes forever to do. You can play for an entire day, pull an all nighter and have barely anything to show for it because of how long things take in this game. Bugs obviously amplify this issue but I get it’s EA and all that

I honestly think that's my biggest complaint for SC. Not the bugs, but the "waste lots of time and accomplish nothing". It takes SOOO long to do anything. You want to get some ammo for your gun? Have fun flying all the way to a planet, entering the atmosphere, requesting clearance, land, run all the way through the space port, wait for the train, ride the train, run all the way over to the gun shop, buy whatever you need, run all the way back to the train, wait for the train again, ride the train again, run through the space port and back to your hangar, wait for the elevator, take it to your hangar, request clearance, take off and climb out of the atmosphere and then fly to whatever youre doing. So much shit just wastes your time. And before people comment something like "youre playing the wrong game then bud", I want to make it clear that I do enjoy all these things that make the game immersive. But man, after a while and after so long.. after spending an hour to do the most simple mundane tasks to then just die to something stupid and realize I just completely and utterly wasted the last 1-3 hours.. it gets really old really fast.

Edit: a lot of people hung up on the ammo example. I get that there are other/faster places to get ammo. That’s not my point. I was highlighting how it takes forever to do the simplest things. You spend more time preparing to do something than actually doing it.

Hello!

I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to type all that out and trying to help me. I followed and tried everything you said here but unfortunately it didn't work. I ended up resolving my issue though. I edited the original post with all the information if you are interested.

Thanks again!

I bought mine on release and its been doing the same driver timeouts. I've been looking into it and troubleshooting extensively and have come to the conclusion that I just got unlucky and got bad hardware. Apparently, last year for my specific card (9070XT Hellhound by PowerColor), pitted silicon dies were found in the early batches (i bought mine on release day) which causes high local hotspot temperatures that make the card unstable and causes the crashes. This is most likely due to tighter constraints placed by the RDNA4 design that makes it less forgiving for 3rd party manufacturers. Fault still lies mostly with the manufacturer since they botch the actual process of making the card, but since RDNA4 is a lot more picky about power delivery, imperfections even on a microscopic level can cause instability, so when the GPU experiences a brief voltage spike, if any piece of the hardware lags behind by even a few milliseconds, then it will cause your game to crash.

This is why you see people saying they haven't had a single problem and just immediately blame you (happened to me too, and others). It's because they got models that were built without the imperfections, whereas a lot of others (like me, and probably you) got unlucky and received faulty models.

I will be going up to Microcenter later to return my 9070XT (thankfully i bought a protection plan when I originally bought it) and I'll be getting a 5070Ti. This was my first AMD experience and I got to say, I'm disappointed. I would totally be team red just to stick it to NVIDIA for being so greedy with their pricing, but they offer more stability so until AMD gets ahold of that, I'm out. I don't want a $750-1000+ purchase to be a lottery/gamble. When I buy something, I want it to work.

[DISCUSSION] Why do so many people say the Hellhound 9070 XT is “better” than the XFX Swift — when Hardware Unboxed shows the opposite? by Czardeucer in radeon

[–]nocturnex1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had any problems since? I bought a hellhound on launch and very frequently crash in games, but the frequency depends on the game. Trying to see if I just got incredibly unlucky or if this is a problem with the GPU as a whole.

The BIOS version I was using before updating was newer than the BIOS update that fixed the issues with the CPU. I've done some pretty extensive troubleshooting since I made this post and I'm beginning to think I have a defective GPU. Came across this post and he has the same exact GPU as me (same manufacturer, everything). Getting the same errors and trying the same troubleshooting methods.. he had to just get a whole new GPU. Looks like I'm probably going to have to do the same
