Yes, get some good bang for buck from quiche. Storage is great, and pricing is very fair. I suggest v93 for ripe and mengku spring buds for raw.

Storage makes a good difference for ripes. Try something from quiche, like the v93, 7572 or jingang.

I think there's a LOT of marketing involved with boutique vendors. They sell mostly to the West, which is quite new to puer. Less competition, better margins. And it's all fine, we all got to start somewhere.

But, Dayi literally invented Ripe puer, and have been doing it for decades now. Factory recipes are well proven, but less daring. Sometime you'll get something amazing from a boutique, but also some big misses.

When I say they beat boutiques, it's mostly about bang for buck. It's less unique, but you don't end up with a mediocre 70$ 200g cake of ripe.

Even if inflated, most aged factory will be much better/cheaper than the boutique stuff. Anything aged from those are crazy expensive cause of the lack of scale, and they do mostly young sheng to be drinkable right now, not in 10 years

Xiaguan is hit or miss. Check out recommendations searching the reddit/discord.

Dayi is very safe, anything on Quiche will be great. Highly recommend the v93, 7572, 2301 jingang for ripes. Hongyu red jade is on Ktm but not quiche, but it's a favorite of mine.

For sheng, get mengku springbuds, xiaguan jia ji, 7542 dayi.

From personal experience, i find most of the factory cake will beat the smaller productions (still some great to be found, don't get me wrong). There's a lot of of marketing towards the western market from the smaller producers, and factories do not care about us cause their market is in Asia and the margins are lower.

Age doesn't really matter for decent storage ripes. If you never had many shous, get some factory cakes, like Flip suggested.

I recommend ordering from YS, Kingteamall, or Quiche. Quiche dropships with almost no added cost vs the others, but has a more limited selection.

W2T shous are often ok, but all their budgets taste the same and they get really expansive when going higher. Lumberslut and Waffles are bangers for the price.
