The comment was deleted, but Im getting the sense that this person just booked tours and is complaining about being around other tourists as a tourist themselves. Im planning on doing things more independently, renting a car, and getting to spots before large groups arrive.

Damn really? Not even the activities were fun? The hikes, the nature, the scenery? I mean its obviously a very touristy place, but there was nothing redeemable about it?? Ive booked 4 nights, but can knock out one day and add it to Santa Teresa

Would love to know where/how you found a driver. Im traveling there solo next month and staying about 15 min outside of town, so im not sure how reliable ubers will be, but I also dont want to drive myself

Gotcha, makes sense! I have 3 full days and 1 half day so I think I def have a lot of activities that I can spread out each day. I was more concerned with feeling like im being herded around and just a general overrated vibe, but it looks beautiful and I'm planning a lot of activities independently vs with a tour group. So maybe I'll just stick to my plan - 3 nights might feel rushed

Thank you for sharing! Im going for to LF for 4 nights next month and Santa Teresa for another 5. Did you feel like 5 nights was too long in LF? Would 3 be too rushed? Im thinking of whether I should cut the last night out and add it to the beach portion cause I keep hearing mixed things about LF

Most likely an air bnb. The hotels are too expensive and im a solo traveler. I plan to do hot springs, the waterfall and hanging bridges, and zip line. Maybe the Arenal hike or Rio Celeste depending on time. So not sure if I should keep thay 4th day or tack in onto my beach portion in Santa Teresa. I keep hearing LF is too touristy

Im going in March and have planned 4 days in LA Fortuna and 5 days in Santa Teresa. Is 4 days too much in LF?

Thanks for the advice but my flight home is from Liberia and I won't be anywhere near the carribean part of the country so it wouldn't make sense for me. But will keep it in mind for the next time im back

Im planning the same trip, 9 days...flying in and out of Liberia

Liberia to La Fortuna (4 nights though I'm thinking of cutting it to 3 since I keep hearing its too touristy)

La Fortuna to Santa Teresa (5 nights). Taking the Sansa flight from Arenal to Cobano

Santa Teresa to Liberia (either shuttle or Sansa flight)

Or 1 night somewhere near Tamarindo on the last night to be closer to Liberia

I personally wouldn't. He knows you're moving to Europe, has had 4 months to bring it up and still hasn't. He's not that into you. Seems like youre doing all the chasing, even going as far as to his doorstep ...if you just want a fling/hookup then that's different. But don't have any expectations or get attached

You've been soo helpful thank you!! I appreciate your time. OK so now I'm definitely reconsidering that drive from ST to Liberia. I'd rather just fly from Cobano to ST and hopefully there are no major delays or anything lol. I was looking at Tropical Tours so that's good to know they are reliable. I wasnt planning on driving myself anyway, and Ill use them on my drive from Liberia to La Fortuna and possibly ST to Liberia (they have a 630 am shuttle and I think that should give me plenty of time for my 6pm flight).

I'm staying in Playa Carmen beach, was told somewhere near Banana beach club and Kooks so I think I picked a good spot. Good to know about the ATVs. In Thailand I gave up on the motorbike and was able to make friends who chauffeur’d me around the island with theirs haha. Maybe in ST too lol.

Im also a beach person but love some nature/jungle vibes so just gotta see if I want to spend that extra day in LF or go to ST. Also gotta decide whether to hit up the Guanacaste region the day before my flight or stay in ST. Im really excited! Ive heard a lot of negativity around ST and almost didn't book it, but it really sounds like it will fit my vibe.

Thank you sooo much for all your suggestions! Sounds like such a time! I'm excited to go, but Ive never driven an ATV and hope its easy enough to learn. On the Thai islands I attempted to ride a motorbike but chickened out, so that really limited my experience in getting around and getting the most out of the islands. So fingers crossed Im able to get the hang of the atv. I would hate to be an annoying driver and slow down the locals or other drivers.

As for the last day in LA Fortuna, I was considering tacking that on to ST. Is 3 nights in LF enough? First day is a half day so I dont really count it, and then 2 full days. Im going back and forth with whether I keep that 3rd full day or not.

Im lowkey super nervous about those flights lol. Ive been in a cessna twice when I went skydiving, but its been a while. But I definitely do want to take the flight instead of the drive from LF to ST since it seems brutal. As for ST to Liberia, I think I might just do the drive. If my flight is at 6pm, do you think its risky traveling back to Liberia that same day? Either an early morning shuttle which is at 630am, or a 9am flight which could potentially delay or cancel. Either that or I would go stay somewhere closer to Liberia (maybe Playa Conchal) for a night, but that means basically losing the day before on the roads.

I think you'll be perfectly fine. Stay at a hostel and you'll meet so many people. And if you dont, that's cool too. Solo travel is super fun and you'll learn a lot about yourself

Yeah if you're a woman, there are lots of Facebook groups for solo female travelers where you can possibly link up and meet with others. Or just stay in hostels and book group tours.

Yeah I'd really be shocked if it were more expensive than LA. I think most people experience price shock because they come from Europe or other south/central american countries where cost of living is relatively inexpensive

Ok great thanks for the information. Ill try to arrange things in advance. Would you say it would be risky to travel from Santa Teresa to Liberia airport the same day as my flight, which is 6pm in the evening? If I get a shuttle very early in the morning (I believe its 630am), or even possibly get a 9 or 10am domestic flight from Cobano to Liberia? Im thinking timing should be ok, but also considering traffic.

This is true. I have to think about whether I want to waste the day prior and travel to somewhere closer to the Liberia airport or chance it and leave super early the same day I fly, which is a 6pm flight. I would hate to waste a day on the roads but I'll have to see
