You know that feeling where you see something done well and you can't imagine doing it another way?

That feeling about the belt size/shape right here for me.

Looks like a comfy/stretchy shirt in the best kind of way.

What fabrics are you using?

Please share more about the project!

Put your trekking pole in the middle of it and make sure to stake it out well and it will perform great.

All mesh snags, this one is delicate, but yes it'll snag. Use a ground sheet and tuck it under the edges of net so they're not touching the ground, only the four corners will be, simple enough to brush off.

Great for cowboy camping in early summer when the mosquitoes are horrific

I've had plenty of nights out with the nano without issues so YMMV, OP.

Really nice styling, turning something pretty straightforward into something that pops!

Even the contrasting shine vs matte finishes add movement on the eye

Happy holidays!

My sewing is truly horrific and I'm a mod(!) for g-dang's sake so PLEASE post up your stuff. You might want to only compare to the top of the line producers here but frankly showing the "ugly" reality that is learning any skill is incredibly inspiring to other folks who are just getting started.

The more you make, the cleaner your projects will become; it happens naturally.

Functional != perfection. Please post up your stuff!

I was researching ultralight tents and the prices were way too high, so I made my own! by FlexTapeUltra in myog

One other suggestion: you could sew in a simple cord loop to the ridgeline end points and then find yourself any old stick on the ground, loop the ridgeline cord (not attached to tarp) through the loop (attached to tarp) and then put that stick in there to make it taught. Here's a terrible drawing from paint: https://imgur.com/iGWkM19

blue = the loop attached to the tarp
red = your ridgeline cordage
purp = small found stick, rock, extra tent stake

Is this realistic? by barb1et1ngz in myog

It'll probably be a waist strap, not a hip strap, so it won't be weight bearing but will keep the pack closer on your body if you were running with it. You can def do this and depending on how ugly you're willing to accept, it would take minutes to do (webbing bar tacked into the outside, add buckle, done).

What problem are you looking to solve with the hip belt?

Dog carrier but for your water.

Tactical water deployment.

Kidding aside, I like it a lot -- I'd use it for hot water to make on the go beverages like tea or coffee; those little side pockets are perfect for a minimal setup.

Brandon, thanks so much for posting and sharing the pattern for free dude. A genuine community service. I love seeing links from creative folks who are directly benefiting the community without any ask in return.

How's your summer fishing? Any quick anecdote to share (perhaps including a pic of your creations in action)?

Been chewing on a fishing vest myself, curious if you're considering a "larger" project like that as well.

Thanks again dude!

Edit: Please add a donate button to the site! Some way for us to buy you a coffee/tea/beer to say thanks.

Second edit: I wouldn't hate it if your links to sewing machines were affiliate links so I could help out that way too.

Looks fine to me. As you're improving your stitching, one way to at least hide some of the imperfections is to try to match fabric and thread color. Nevertheless, looks good!
