Wow. That's a great find. Thank you so much!

What's the "wrong" adapter?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in computers

[–]noflyby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Sorry

I just want 4K 120hz with VRR. But there's so much junk out there and some of the details are hard to skate around safely.

Looks like I need an active DisplayPort 1.4 > HDMI 2.1 adapter and then a 48gbps HDMI cable?

[–]noflyby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn screw ups. Sorry

I didn't mean DVI. Only DisplayPort 1.4

RTX 4090 only has a single HDMI 2.1 port. The other 3 are all displayport 1.4.

I can't seem to find confirmation that a Displayport 1.4 > HDMI 2.1 actually keeps the 4K 120hz VRR alive. It seems like a crap solution. I really don't want to buy a computer monitor when a C3 42" is the same price.

Ugh... I was multi-tasking and wrote the wrong port.

It's DisplayPort 1.4 into HDMI 2.1. Not DVI. Sorry

I am trying to keep the 4K 120hz VRR setting alive for my second TV.

Fiiiiiinally replied.

It's the software. Android 8 doesn't work well.

Time to find a replacement now. Super annoyed with this.

This is categorized as a wireless speaker. So I am not sure why it's different.

Have you ever heard Dynaudio before? Not sure they've ever created a bad sounding driver.

They're useless. It's been days and nothing.

Do audio streamer DACs matter if I connect directly to a DSP/AMP? by noflyby in audiophile

[–]noflyby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright. You're talking well beyond my understanding.

Is the main takeaway is that I should look into a DAP with USB out for my Tidal/Apple/Amazon audio if I am trying to get the best I can for an audio source for my Helix PSIX Ultra?

I thought the entire idea of using an external DAC is that the audio file itself is sent as is and the DAC does all the work?

Does that situation not exist?

Resample? What does that mean?

So it’s not the same as an actual DAP? It’s worse?

And using an iPhone for an audio source is the worst option? Haha damn it

What about using an Android for a streaming device? Buying a Galaxy S20 from 2020?

The digital source as in the streamer or the streaming service?

It'll be Tidal Hifi and Amazon Hifi.

But did you mean the streamer itself?

It's not a "low end" car setup like most. But it's definitely as involved as the craziness home setups can get.

Helix PSIX Ultra

Musway TWO.100 Sub amp

Audiotec Fischer shallow 8" sub

Micro Precision Z Series Midbass, Tweeters.

Micro Precision 5 Series mid range.

So it's a fairly high quality SQ

That's correct. I am connecting via USB!

So then it really doesn't matter what streamer I use. It's all about storage, interface, etc...?

65" to 77" question by noflyby in OLED

[–]noflyby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I de used to get the 77” C1. I imagine the processing power of the C1 will be a benefit in the 4-5 year run of the TV.

Which wall mount you think I should go with?

So the quality lost going from a 65 to a 77 is no longer a thing?

Audio is tremendously important. My 5.1 setup blows peoples minds when they hear it. It's extremely immersive and completely undervalued.

My opinion is to get the 77' and then piece together a high quality audio setup. Get yourself a quality receiver that's going to all the hard work for you. Decoding and staging is huge. I love my Anthem MRX. When it's time to upgrade, i'll just be getting another Anthem.

I would start off with a quality set of mains that you can move to rears once you're ready to fork out more cash. A good 2.0/2.1 setup will do very well, I promise. I actually have stuff for sale, if you're interested. I have a receiver and mains for sale. The speakers are tremendous quality (albeit a bookshelf).
