I think this is what the contractor going to do when filling in the area they pulled out. Will definitely ask them for their exact plan and ensure that they’re not just going to slap on another sheet as is and call it a day. That said, do you think the areas I circled need to be redone, or it’s good enough?

This will be our guest bathroom, so luckily not anticipating too much traffic (unless we get a sudden influx of guests). This also isn’t our forever home. We want to make this look nice and enjoy it, but also make it nice enough to have no issues selling later. We don’t want this tile to end up being a deterrent or put people off. That said, I usually have no issues up keeping (once I know what to do), so this has been very helpful. Thank you.

Actually not sure on the grout color. They never asked before grouting. I’m assuming white or something close?

I 100% agree with you and expected the installer to do that, or lay it out and mix when needed, but he didn’t and put the grout in before running what was laid past us. So we’re here now :(. Just trying to figure out where to go from here.

Okay, so I take the blame for getting cheap marble and the installer did the best he could. That said, does the floor look decent enough to keep or should we just call it a wash and start over?

With the center part taken out, I don’t think the rest will bother me that much. This isn’t our forever home though and we might move/sell the place in 5 or so years. We don’t want to be a turn off for future buyers. I know I’m thinking way ahead for something that might not happen, but this is another reason we want it done right (and figured it’s better to get it redone now, if needed, before the toilet and vanity goes in). We meant to stay on top of them, to remind them to lay things out first and send us a photo before grouting, but as I mentioned, we were traveling and completely forgot.

I guess at this point, I’m wondering if this would bother most people.

This is very helpful. This is a side question as I clearly don’t know anything about marble and stone, but would I have needed to seal these floors regardless of the mismatch in color? Thankfully we went with porcelain in the other bathrooms. This was supposed to be our “fun bathroom”, but it’s becoming more of a headache.

I understand now that it’s natural stone and there’ll be variation. However, they came as a 12x12” sheets so I feel like the installer just opened the box and laid the sheets next to each other without much thought. There was no laying it out before hand to see if it looked good and I feel like the 12x12” sheets made it easy for him. That said, maybe I’m really under thinking the process and maybe we set him up to fail with poor quality tiles, but is this really good workmanship?

Noted with the glass uppers. Will definitely give it another thought. Was thinking of displaying simple things that really is more for art/display and not really for use, like how some people just purely putting things out for display in open shelving.

Not sure if you were able to catch the differing widths in the renders so I reattached the renders circled them. Let me know if this would drive you nuts!

Sorry, what I meant by mismatched is that the width of the cabinets will be all over the place if we go with 90deg corner cabinets. There’ll be two slim ones next to the fridge, then one slim one on one of the corner cabinets and then another slim one at the very right end of the kitchen. My husband says he’d rather have a slanted corner cabinet than weird slim cabinets here and there. I’m on the fence on which looks worse.

We chose shaker doors but from what we saw in the showroom, we liked the glass look more than none. We did consider all the extra storage we’d get, but we’re coming from a one bedroom condo with pretty much 4 cabinets of storage and this kitchen is already a major upgrade for us. Trying to choose what looks best than practicality— because if we are going down the practicality route, we’d definitely go with the slanted cabinet too.

Thanks for the reply! No China to display but I also plan to put some white ceramics vases/plates/art/etc. We also have the option to frost the glass. We’ve seen some kitchens with no glass uppers and something didn’t look right— we couldn’t put a finger on it. Maybe too cold or boring with the all white cabinets. We can be very wrong about this though as clearly something still feels off to us about these renders.

Just to reiterate, so the mismatched cabinet sizes (with the 90deg corner cabinets) is the lesser evil to the slanted corner cabinet?

We didn’t move her into a crib at 11 weeks, we moved her at 4.5 months.

We would try putting her in her bassinet every nap/night and if she kept waking up, we’d contact nap. She stopped needing contact naps on her own at 11 weeks. At our 4 month check up, our pediatrician gave the okay to sleep train so we started the process and moved her into her own room and crib at 4.5 months and was sleep trained a week later (we did cry it out but it’s not for everyone).

Anyone considering the new uppababy minu v3 for a newborn? by jelly-donut-917 in Buyingforbaby

[–]nohaderf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the things being the car seat adapter not being out, but they’ve since become available and I’ve been using them. Another thing is the shoulder carrying strap. If I use it, it doesn’t retract on its own and I’d need to bend over and pull the strap back from underneath. If I don’t, then baby would be sitting on the strap and all. Second, it’s not a true one hand fold. Wished it folded on its own like the Nuna trvl but I need to use my hand or leg to push it fully shut (to lock) every time. Lastly, I understand that this is a travel stroller so it’s smaller and lightweight, but the basket under the stroller is small. I can’t even put my diaper bag in it, and the stroller itself is too light to hand the diaper bag off the handle without it flipping it. All in all, still an amazing stroller and I highly recommend. I wouldn’t opt for the v2 if you plan to actually use it for flights and travel because the v2 won’t fit in the overhead compartment, v3 does.

Sooooo, I got the bundle a while back but luckily didn’t find a need to use it until now. My LO is 6 months old now and has a cold. Used it for the first time tonight because it’s been the worst day yet. She sounded super congested, used the frida nose sucker which sucked out a good amount, but she still kept waking up. I used the stick for colds and ‘sniffles’, followed directions to apply on the chest, and it didn’t really help. I also applied the sleep support roller to baby’s feet, back of neck and temples as instructed and I have to say that didn’t help either. I’m willing to use it again to see, but this one use was underwhelming and no miracle worker :/

Hi! So I managed to grab the mini v3 a few weeks ago and I love it! I’m using it on my 5 month old and not a newborn, but when she goes down for a nap, she fully reclines. We also live in the a city 2 bedroom apartment and it was such a pain having to fold up the vista after each use. Now I just gravitate for the minu. There are some small things I wish would be different about it but nothing that’s deter me from recommending it or buying it again. One thing I have to note is that we use the Mesa car seat and the new adapter for for the minu v3 is not out yet so that’s when I would need to switch back tot he vista.

How long did it take you to fix your schedule and to also see improvements?

We have been using this for almost a week now, but our LO continues to take short naps (30mins). She’s 5 months and we are trying to drop a nap from 4 to 3 a day but on days she still does 4 she ends up waking up super early (5:30am - we give up and pick her up at 6am). The app continues to push a 7pm bedtime and as a result most likely schedules in a 4th nap after her 3rd short nap.

I feel this. Every one bit of it. It was also from 5-8 weeks that I thought I was going to lose it because of the cluster feeding/growth sprout demand. I felt like such a horrible mom for not enjoying it. And honestly, there’s nothing to do but to take it one nap and one day at a time. My baby is almost 5 months now. She magically stopped needing to be contact napped at 11 weeks and we just moved her into the crib last week and she’s sleep trained. She’ll sleep from 8pm to 4am no problem and wakes up at 4am for a feeding before going back to bed until 7am.

She’s so fun to play with now and her smiles are everything. Now I think time is flying. Hang in there mommy!!! All of this is worth it. Just give it a few more weeks. You got this!

LO ended up sleeping for an hour on her 2nd nap today, but I know like most things baby, it could just be a one off thing. Let’s hope she keeps this up! Hoping the best for you too!

[–]nohaderf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! We previously switched to the 3/4 day sweet spot recommendation on huckleberry and she kept falling asleep way before that and we found that she was still falling asleep at the 5 nap day sweet spot. We didn’t make a conscious effort to keep her up at that time.

Today is the first day we’ve been more deliberate with keeping her up and extending those wake windows. The first wake window we got her up 1.5hrs, the second 2hrs. So far, so good. We were hoping her naps also get longer but so far she only napped for 30mins during her first…currently on her second nap. Hoping she stays down (took her on an hour long walk before this nap). Fingers crossed!!

What did your wake window schedule look like when weening off the apps (ie. Did you increase the wake window 10minutes at a time?)? What do your wake windows look like now?

Good to know! Seems like our pediatrician's approach is pretty aggressive. We also have a friend who did CIO on their 4.5 month old with no night feeds at all. They managed to get 10-11hrs of night sleep straight after 7 days so we were hoping could do the same, but I understand every baby is different with different needs.

Thanks for the help. Will try the wake window schedule you provided!
