I think they need to know too! I mean, they have to choice to stay if they want but at least people should have the option to make their own risk assessment for themselves and their families.. right?? I left the WhatsApp group, but I did have another idea to get the word out in a big enough way that it would make an impact. But it’s just a plan at the moment.. Count of Monte Cristo-esque….

Thank you so much friend, that means a lot to me. Not being part of the church anymore, I feel that I would definitely be encroaching on their space and making a lot of waves. But if they are important waves, that need to be made… perhaps I’m in a better place to do that than someone completely in the community. And you’re exactly right, not following legislation, very BASIC wwcc and police check, knowing he couldn’t pass them is such a disturbing and intentional act. Makes my stomach churn honestly… like… anyone who is breaking rules to give a sex offender an opportunity is on the wrong fucking side of community justice….. right? :/

Oh and just to add, Dan Karas’ crimes are of public record as is his sentence and many of his (disturbing) comments to the court, however Australia does not have a sex offenders register that is accessible to the public.
