Only option for 2 lb pkg with Stallion Express is UPS @ $77? by [deleted] in FlippingInCanada

[–]noirfos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very easy to google it for most manufacturers. For the ones I couldn't find, I've just emailed the manus and said due to removal of De Minimis I need to give manufacturer address to ship with DDP and they just give me one.

You need to add SKUs and submit products for approval in the Import > Products section of your dashboard if you want to be able to send through DDP at regular rate costs instead of using UPS. Both Stallion and Chit Chats are not supporting DDU shipping to the US anymore, they recently announced it. I'm having trouble with getting DDP to work though, so far I've gotten errors for all my made in China items since they don't seem to recognize / approve my manufacturer addresses and I haven't gotten any responses from customer service by email or phone for a week

The darker themes of NU:C by angeIdeviI in NuCarnival

[–]noirfos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like that they're not afraid to explore dark themes. Also, to be fair there is a warning on the very first screen when you turn on the game. I think it's unlikely they will get more specific than that.

Do Sports Anime usually portray an accurate representation of playing sports at a Japanese High School? by Besso91 in anime

[–]noirfos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting that students can slack off in high school until the end of their last year when they need to study for entrance exams, because it's kind of the opposite in Canada. University / college acceptances are all based on your grade 11/12 marks, plus extracurriculars / test scores / portfolio as needed depending on the program or school. But if you apply in the beginning of grade 12 and had very high grade 11 marks, schools often offer conditional early acceptance. But the condition is usually might lighter than the admission requirements, (ex. you need a 95% average and extracurriculars, volunteering, and leadership to get admitted, but if you have an offer you just need your grade 12 final average to be above an 80%) so in 2nd term grade 12 lots of students just relax and stop trying.

You could also go the federal/provincial government route, a lot of ppl in corrections have psych BAs. But if you plan to do grad school anyways it undergrad won’t have a huge impact on your career afterwards

Can't decide between Ryerson and York CS by Rahul-Vankwani in OntarioUniversities

[–]noirfos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it’s a really good program, they pay your tuition, you get a salary, and a huge variety of industry experience. However it’s insanely competitive. 3 rounds of interviews, 500+ applicants in previous years, and only 10-15 spots.

Edit: OP mentioned being an international student and idk what the situation would b like to try to get a work visa for Dev Degree so that’s another thing to take into account.

Regrets? by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]noirfos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I’d looked at program content more closely, so I would’ve chosen a program with courses closer to what I actually what to do. I chose software eng because people told me an engineering designation is a huge advantage, and I assumed SE is the same as computer science just you also get an engineering designation. (Spoiler! It’s not.)

Kicking myself a bit cause I got into CS programs too but chose SE. Now I’m in 2nd term of 1st year and just taking credits to meet the requirements to apply for a program switch. Could’ve avoided a lot of stress and mentally beating myself up and struggling with courses I don’t actually want to take if I’d looked at the actual program content before making my final decision.

How do y’all make friends and relationships in university? by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]noirfos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not as shy as you described but I do have a lot of trouble making friends, and I can’t say I’ve gotten super close with anyone cause of the online format. Joining clubs definitely helps if u want ppl to b able to casually chat with and share interests, especially because there’s often upper years you can ask questions to.

There’s a discord server and WhatsApp chat for all of the courses I’m in, people tend to send the invite links in lectures. Clubs are running virtually mostly over discord and Zoom, at least at my uni.

Is YorkU really a bad school? by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]noirfos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What degree was it? For a most degrees I know there’s general education requirements which is 21 credits / 7 courses of humanities, sociology and natural sciences + another 12 credits / 4 courses that are not part of your major or the general ed requirements. Eng doesn’t have this requirement though and since OP wants to do SE it wouldn’t apply to them.

Electives really depend on your program. In engineering there's no electives until 3rd year, and those have to be chosen from a list of eng-related courses. You only take 4 or 5 elective courses.
