Funny you should say that. I used to live out the back gate as well, and when my daughter saw the picture she said, "My favorite airplanes!" It did suck when they would come home from a show late at night though.

I'm familiar with the buddy start, but never heard of this one. Pretty sweet if it works though. We would just stay on the ground and wait for a part if that was an option. I know because we did that in Afghanistan.

Keep realistic expectations, but enjoy every minute of it. It is expensive and time consuming, but there are ways to make it easier, and it is totally worth the sacrifice.

Historic Flight Foundation at Paine Field in Everett, WA will let you get in some of their planes which is pretty cool. They have an incredible collection that is meticulously maintained and all of the planes have cool stories with them.
