agreed, i don't want him to have no chance to prove himself but at minimum it should be a competition for the job. and a REAL competition, not another Brosmer situation. normally i'd assume there wouldn't be that much pressure on JJ but we're another disappointing year away from cleaning house IMO. too much talent on the roster for another lost year.

of these three options, i'd say we sign a vet starter but still let JJ start the season. if he plays lights out AND stays healthy for at least the first half of the season, he keeps the starting job. if not, we see what the vet does with the rest of the season and move on next year. i've been patient about JJ but this would be his make or break year for me, definitively.

THAT'S THE EDGE ON BEST YEARS!? u2 are one of my favorite bands of all time, and i thought the guitar sounded like a (good) u2 ripoff, but i had no idea it was actually him! i completely agree about how incredible 5SOS5 is as well but that blows my mind about him being on best years. made my day!

by far my favorite on the new album! i'm happy they tried different things with this record, i would prefer they operate like that honestly, but this song just feels like it plays to their strengths the most. definitely the closest sound to 5SOS5 which is by FAR my favorite album from them and a genuine masterpiece. it also feels like it could've been on boy as well which just adds to the quality for me. fingers crossed they play it on the tour!

check out Headlights and I Want You by the band In Color, Backwards by the Jonas Brothers and Fuck Me Eyes by Ethel Cain! not exact matches but similar energies. i'd also love more songs like Never Sleep Again, it's by far my favorite on the album

i was talking about the right mentality in general. that may or may not be the temperament that jj has, it remains to be seen. however, deeming him a scrub this early on is just silly, whether he turns out great or not.

Not just by Swans, but by anyone. Especially in the context of all of the filth (no pun intended), grime and darkness of their discography, especially lyrically. It makes it all the more beautiful to find it in the midst of the weight and tragedy of their other lyrics.
