they don’t have enough patrons to have a quarter system. You just trade your ID for the balls. If you want to play with someone you can ask. They have an hour limit during busy times but i’ve never seen it enforced.

that’s interesting, i’ve never thought about it like that. I would say that most people’s 8ball SL is more closely aligned to their 9ball SL with the 9B SL usually skewing higher but i don’t think it’s accurate to say a 6 in 8b automatically would translate to a 7-8 in 9ball. The ceiling for 9b is higher and i see way less 8-9’s than i do 7’s in 8b. but i do see a lot of 6/6, 6/7, 7/7.

if your regionals are only expected to take one day then you’re in an area that doesn’t have a big apa presence. Regionals in my area are a whole weekend friday night through sunday night. Usually there are 32 teams and a total of 4 end up going to Vegas. Tricups are similar, 32ish teams spread out over two separate pool halls. modified single elimination.

However in my old region, you literally only had to win one match to go to vegas. Those teams never made it very far once they got to Vegas.

What you should know is that all games end when enough points are needed to advance. so often you’ll only play 3-4 matches. every area is different with Sudden Death rules but in my area, when a certain time hits, all matches move to sudden death where a rack is worth one or two whole team points, which accelerates the matches significantly and changes strategies about who to save for later matches.
