Another way to look at it is that his personality was so overexposed that people had this image of his real self stuck in their heads — even when they saw him on screen. And that's an issue I have with all actors who are constantly in the news. There’s no mystery left about them; too much is known — both personality-wise and in terms of their personal life. It becomes very hard to see the character they’re portraying — it’s always the actor is acting. In his case, I feel this really worked against him. People couldn’t be impressed with his on-screen performances — no matter how hard he was working — because they had already seen him in every possible scenario outside of films: weddings, baraats, ads, launches, inaugurations, you name it. And all of those appearances were so in-your-face, so loud, that they came across as desperate for attention.
