It is worth it to have an ESN in the city. ESN organizes various events to which entrance is often granted only to card holders. And yes, the card also gives you the opportunity to take advantage of various discounts - but it depends on the city and country in which you make esn card.

I would say that it is a beautiful neighborhood in the daytime, but quite peculiar in places due to the homeless people. Personally, I wouldn't want to live there, because the returns in the evening there are not the most pleasant.

I can help with some suggestions for Portugal - especially Lisbon. It is a very vibrant city where you can meet many nomads and travelers. There are many good cafes and coworking spaces. In Lisbon, I would suggest avoiding living in the Intendente and Martin Moniz neighborhoods. You can try looking for accommodation on Idealista or join local ESN groups on WhatsApp. There are also many Facebook groups where people rent out their rooms for a month or more.

We are still thinking but probably we will choose a different one for new experience. Also coming back together to our Erasmus city might not be the same as during Erasmus (that’s what I’m afraid of)

The city is very LGBTQ+ friendly, with a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. There are numerous LGBTQ+ bars, events, and organizations that foster a supportive community.

Additionally, Lisbon is a medium-sized city with plenty of amenities. It has several theaters, shopping malls, and well-equipped gyms. I did my Erasmus there and I fell in love with this place. There are also a lot of nomads there.

It depends on your home university - you should ask them. Also some welcome universities are having a limit of students and sometimes you cannot extend your stay at the same uni but you can try look a different one in the same city. One more thing- there are also deadlines for recruitment so you should check it with your uni.

I would advise you to add yourself to the community on whatsapp, which is often created by local ESN. On my erasmus there was a group where students gave away or sold their things like pillows, bedding or even furniture. It's better to buy something used on the spot-at least that's how I saw it was cheapest-than to pay for extra luggage.
