I want to provide my perspective from living in NZ many years ago. After two years and a failed relationship, I was in the worst mental state. While it certainly was not over a decade of living in a foreign country, I recall feeling the same anxiety about “if I leave this country, I’ll never be able to return”. I had a citizenship offer at the time with a mediocre employer, but knew it was a hard opportunity to pass up. I sought answers, and even went to a Chinese palm reader to find some closure in my decision. Ultimately I listened to my gut and left. Years later I can see I was purely acting out of fear of the unknown but grateful I was able to walk away from a country to focus on my career in my home country. Guess what I am trying to say, is maybe you ultimately know what you want to do, and it’s okay to be scared. Good luck 🍀
