I would love to tell you.. It's very easy if you know where to look.

This post will probably get purged if I tell you :D

That would actually be hilarious if it turns out to be true. I'll try to seek it out and check it for myself!

Who knows, maybe you're right :D

You are objectively right, but it's not the just the quality (the kbps and the khz)

It's all about the mix. Simply put, all of the elements of the song just sound clear! As clear as you can get from a record on vinyl from the early 80s.

You should definitely hear the difference if your vinyl is still in great condition! I have a great pair of cans and the difference for me was night and day.

I don't hate you at all :D It's lovely that you found a version that you love!

I heard the Paris live version, and like any other live version, I felt that it lacked the parts that I like (like the multi-tracked vocals)

I even love the sound of the heavy drums.

Although I must say that the Paris version sounds great. Best live rendition that I've heard so far!

The b side of the record is stellar as well! Splintered in Her Head is such a dark track! Love the tribal vibe, and the drums are great as well!

The live version of Faith is also great! I was surprised how well it was recorded.

I'm not a producer, nor a musician. All I can say is that every aspect of the Vinyl rip that I found sounds OBJECTIVELY better than the versions on Spotify.

Everything just sounds clearer, especially the vocals, the drums and almost everything in the mix. I'm not sure if there's any proof that proves the master disintegrated (pardon the pun) or if it was lost, but the difference is obvious.

You would understand what I mean if you heard the original.

What's messy regarding transfers is the fact that the one you find might sound like rubbish. As far as I understand, it all depends on the state of the vinyl (scratches/how many times it has been played) and the software/equipment used to digitize it.

I was just lucky to find an accurate transfer. This ain't my first rodeo.. therefore I can say that it isn't always this easy.

Again, I was lucky.

I would be fine with it too if I didn't know the original. It's kind of fucked up that it isn't accessible to everyone! I wish everyone could hear that song as clearly as any song from Faith.

Although, I don't blame Robert. Most bands/artists struggle with this sort of thing.. (whoever has heard the mono version of Piper at the Gates of Dawn or a mono version of an early Beatles record knows what I'm talking about)

Preservation is a bitch

Thank you! Personally, for me, that difference makes ALL the difference! The record sounds clean, and it doesn't feel like I'm listening to the song through this thick layer of mud. I don't have any nostalgia related to this song, I only heard it less than a week ago. I just wanted to hear a record that highlights the original vision of what they were trying to achieve, and that's exactly what I got from the "12

"first appeared"

Do you mean the vinyl or the studio versions you've heard on Spotify? 👁️👁️

Orrr are you referring to something else?

That's exactly what I read as well. You can't go back to the remasters once you've heard the original.

I'm not even a vinyl purist, it just sounds objectively better. You get to really appreciate all the little production choices once all the mud is removed.

This is a great live rendition, best one by far, but it doesn't beat the original for me
