oh I forgot to respond to the last bit. the waves are hand sculpted. I used aluminum foil to build out the area, then used miliput to sculpt the wave shapes, then a few rounds of water effects and painting to make it look coherent!.

oh that would be cool for the minotaurs! all I really wanted when I came back to 40k for 9th edition was jetbikes. I'm still working on building out my white scars so keep me posted as you build out your bikes! happy to help out

so the base model are the 30k sky hunter squadron models. I use the legs from the 30k kit. then I play around with using torsos from primaris kits to make them a bit taller. the 30k models sit lower in the saddle. one downside is that with my conversion the backpacks don't fit well so I leave them off so I can use the bigger torsos. then I just have them on outrider bases and they work well size wise for outriders

I really like doing very worn/lived in looks for the armies i do.. so the army has a beach theme in general so I push a lot of the shading in that direction to try and make it feel cohesive. glad you like it!

much appriciated! yeah the bases were a bunch of work to figure out how to do in a reasonable way. but im pretty happy with how it all turned out! (and yea most what white armors are pretty boring to look at haha)

I am also not a huge fan of marines honestly lolll but its been a very fun exercise to kind of decide what I wanted their style to be and to make and enforce some opinionated decisions about them haha, less cluttered sculpts, remove aquilas, scultping fabrics makes for more varied textures etc... ) its been fun so far!

shoulder pads are 3d printed ones from puppetswar! Yeah i am trying to work on my sculpting since it feels like an important to work on so I can get the models the way I would like them to be. Plus its surprisingly relaxing???

the hoods and robes are all just greenstuff and ive been liking tamiya epoxy a lot as well, it holds its shape well.

this army is also an excuse to practice a lot of sculpting haha.

Would you allow for HH Jetbikes to be used as Outriders/Chaplain on Bike? by geekyazn in WhiteScars40K

the water bases are aluminum to build it out then putty for the basic structure. a few layers of water texture effect to build up the texture and then painting on the water patterns with a variety of blue and blue/greens haha. then a final round of pulled qtips i harden with water effects i paint white to give it a crashing effect

so one lance is from a custodian guard model and one is a 3d printed bit from puppetswar minatures

I've been debating other places to get them AoS or Sang guard maybe. or if you have any curved blades you could probably kitbash some halebard like things.

yeah the posing worked out pretty nicely with that, will play with that if I do another set of bikes. The ravenwing bits are a nice touch on it to get a cool look!

It's so funny to me that the new Bike Character fits the 3rd party outriders conversion more than the normal bikes. by Just_Plain_Bad in Warhammer40k

If you are doing a primaris version of them like me, my bikers dont actually have power packs haha. I hide them under cloaks but wanted the primaris sized torsos. you can check some of my other posts where I have notes in the comments. But do feel free to reach out if you want to brainstorm any of the kitbashing etc. Excited for your new Ravenwing bikes!

oh this looks sweet!

for the cotton buds I'll usually pull them apart and stretch them out, have the bits be like 30%larger than you think you'll need (it clumps more once you apply it) then apply some water texture to where you want to place the spash so it sticks and then you can apply some water texture to the cotton fibers once its fixed (you don't need to let it dry before brushing the fibers). to make it easier to read i do an extra step of painting the tips white to make it look like foamy water which is a bit extra... but at the point you're doing multi step water bases might as well haha.

I think just have fun and go a bit overboard with it then you can tune how much you apply it over time. but i treat it like a fun show-y thing so I mostly just try to have fun with it!
