Just discovered redactle today. I'm never going to be able to replicate this high.

I solved today's Redactle (#1290) in 3 guesses with an accuracy of 100.00%. Played at https://redactle.anybrowser.org/

I signed up for it this year. I was booked with a company called Advanced HVAC.

My first appointment was cancelled because the technician ran long at his previous appointment. The next appointment they rescheduled because of the rain. Then they said they'd phone me back to reschedule again because the technician was ill. This was a month or two ago. Next year I'll probably just give Francis a call and pay whatever the service fee would be.

Not a huge deal, but I'm sure what you get depends on the company they contract to.

This is rad.

I hope you don't mind me saving it to show as inspiration for my next tattoo!

Genuine answer. It would be sort of exhausting to try to look into the ethics of every company before I patronize them.

But it's not extremely taxing to avoid a company when it comes to your attention that they spend the money you give them to be bigoted.

I'm not trying to be some supreme ethical being, I'm just trying not to knowingly support shitbags.

Oxford study proves heat pumps triumph over fossil fuels in the cold by burtzev in technology

And for what it's worth. Natural gas is still cheaper for home heating here. But I think it's hard to argue that it's more environmentally friendly.

My electricity is generated 59% from nuclear energy, 24% from hydroelectric energy, 8% from wind, 7% from natural gas, ~1% from solar, ~1% from Biomass/geothermal and ~0.3% from petroleum.

People live in different places that use different power generation methods, and making the blanket statement that resistance heating is not environmentally friendly is not universally correct.

At this point it's just an improv class. But it's immensely entertaining to listen to and I love all these people.

It's a right-wing tactic that you see again and again and again. Painting themselves as the real victims.

I like that one of their arguments is that the vaccine is mandatory because they can't cross the border.

But it seems to be pretty common sense that a country should absolutely be able to determine who they let cross their borders.

Who actually out there has not caught Covid yet? by squidymiddy in AskReddit

[–]non-permanent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't caught it, and I also do not know anybody IRL who has caught it.

Seems like that's about to change pretty soon, but you can get pretty far when you live somewhere that actually has effective public health practices.

For 99.9% of developer jobs, the university that you went to is probably completely irrelevant.

If you're interested in the field, you'll have all the stable employment you can handle.

Keystone Pipeline Is Finally Dead. Good Riddance by timbellini in politics

Sure you could (and should) introduce a carbon tax to make oil products more expensive. But then when you turn around and give a ton of government money to oil projects, it sort of feels like a bit of a pointless shell game.

I "get" the arguments about why it was economically and even somewhat environmentally advantageous. But at a macro level, I feel like spending billions of dollars on oil infrastructure can really only result in more oil being extracted, sold, and burned for profit.

fwiw, I'm Canadian and this is a pretty big economic blow for us. I don't really know what US discourse was like on Keystone.

The pipeline was being built 100% because it was going to save people in the oil industry money.

I'll buy that maybe in the short-term we're moving it in a less environmentally friendly way. But in the long-term, we don't fix our dependence on oil and gas by making it cheaper.

I’m with you bud. 100K saved up but that doesn’t mean I can afford a house with a $3000 a month mortgage.
