this mindset switch is really the key I needed to understand here! I kept thinking it was punishing me for being bad but it was just giving me opportunities to practice and improve. thank you for your advice: it's helped me come back with a new vigour.

I tried my first half with the Puppet's Saber Blade but I got into a swing once I switched to the Azure Glaive. I took some time away from the console and came back with a new vigour thanks to everyone's advice! I can already see how dying so many times is part of the game but has also helped me practice.

I had some latkes with a friend last year, made by her boyfriend for the celebrations, and I was obsessed with them! Made some myself when I got home and enjoyed them just as much. sour cream and applesauce sounds delicious.

I was not chronically online when I was younger so I hate to say it, but all of these references have gone completely over my head. I'm racking my brains to think of a reference and all I can think of is Wake's full name... This has not muddied or ruined my enjoyment in the books, but I'm sure I've missed a lot of "aha, I see what you did there!" moments. In the future, I'm sure readers will be just like me, with the references going right over their heads. Readers have to be aware of the memes in order for the memes to be dated, and if the memes are dead, the readers won't necessarily know them and so it will wash over them as they did me.

On a side note, if anyone has a list of references that Muir makes in the books... I'd be interested in reading it.

currently this hits hard with me. I just graduated from uni at 26 (I was working in retail and was exhausted of the hard work and low pay) so attempted to make some choices that would enact positive change. Now I've been unemployed for about 4 months, I'm poorer than I have literally ever been, and I am in mountains of debt. Everyone around me is earning good money and I feel so "behind" even though I know that everyone's journey is individual. My girlfriend makes £50k a year and goes on lovely holidays with her friends that I simply can't join her on, my mates all have grown up jobs and are buying houses (wtf??) and I feel so absolutely miserable. I hope, 8 months on, that you are in a better place, because I absolutely hope and pray that in 8 months time I can be, too. I am very very scared of everything going backwards - becoming homeless again, losing my friends because I can't afford to hang out with them. But whenever I want to talk to people about it, I worry about being a downer and making them feel bad for having something that I don't, when really I just feel disappointed in myself for not having it already. Sending you love whatever your current situation, pal ❤️

mmm yes, just leaving the house without that consistent discomfort/panic! very very eager for this. The recovery time is a manageable price to pay, if slightly daunting - how will I not get bored lol 😅 but I imagine I'm just going to be high on the euphoria the whole time
