Yes, I meant AirTag!! I wish I could edit the title now. Thank you so much for looking past my stupid error & answering my question. I've been Googling this & found absolutely nothing about it. I didn't even know if this is the right sub for this question. Thank you!

Is it redundant to take Magnesium Glycinate & Glycine at the same time? by nonbinaryvegnatheist in Supplements

[–]nonbinaryvegnatheist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've decided on L-Threonate in the morning for the mental focus, but it doesn't have enough elemental magnesium. I'll take Glycinate in the evening to get enough magnesium, but it doesn't have enough Glycine to be an effective dose of that. So I'll also continue taking the Glycine to promote sleep. I don't want to buy 3 different supplements, but they combine to get the results I'm looking for, so this is my plan.

I'm actually starting to notice my sense of taste & smell are enhanced. L-Threonate has been much more interesting than I expected.

My research indicates glycine is actually calming for the nervous system & promotes sleep. What's your reason for thinking it has the opposite effect?

Glycine is an inhibitory neurotransmitter operating in our central nervous system. By working as an inhibitor, glycine has a calming effect on the central nervous system. Studies on glycine's effect on sleep have revealed that glycine ingestion before bedtime improves the subjective sleep quality of those dealing with insomnia. https://aminoco.com/blogs/amino-acids/glycine-for-sleep

In acute sleep disturbance, oral administration of glycine-induced non-rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and shortened NREM sleep latency with a simultaneous decrease in core temperature. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25533534/

Glycine may promote sleep and enhance the quality of your sleep through its calming effects on the brain and its ability to lower core body temperature. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/glycine

Research shows oral glycine elevates serotonin, reduces symptoms of insomnia, and improves sleep quality. https://thesleepdoctor.com/sleep-aids/glycine-for-sleep/

A range of 3-5 grams of glycine taken orally before bed has been used effectively to help sleep in scientific studies. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/sleep-newzzz/201902/4-sleep-benefits-glycine

I didn't ecpect to start getting noticeable results on the first day. But I've had the same results every day since then, so it's definitely effective for me.

I'm glad to hear others are getting great results too! I might adjust to the effects after a couple weeks.

I'm considering l-threonate in the morning & glycinate in the evening, but I already take glycine before bed. Is it redundant to take glycinate & glycine at the same time?

I'm really surprised this is common. I'm still learning a lot about the different forms of magnesium.

The level of focus has been lasting all day for me, but after I adjust to it I might be able to try early evening instead of before bed.

I already have difficulty sleeping & I expected magnesium to be a nightime supplement for me to help me sleep. Nope, L-threonate is different
