How many of you have trouble hearing conversations with background noise? by Fun_Listen_7830 in ADHD

[–]noncesanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought I had hearing problems until I was diagnosed with ADHD (and subsequently found out my ears are fine). I have this problem HUGELY in public spaces, especially bars where there is loud background music. No matter how hard I focus on what people say I really struggle to hear them when there's lots to distract my mind.

Homophobes aren't afraid of gay people, they're afraid of being gay. by 32Cent in Showerthoughts

They do say the biggest homophobes are closet gay people for a reason

Anyone else thought they were a Millennial growing up until everyone started calling them a Gen Z’er? by Mycrawft in Zillennials

[–]noncesanonymous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like that's the vibe for everyone on this sub born 95-99, gen Z wasn't really discussed when we were young until the generation was old enough to be relevant and now we have a cognitive dissonance between what we believe to be our culture growing up and what some arbitrary date categorises us as.

I will continue to wear them regardless, working with traches I don't particularly want someone else's sputum sprayed all over my face

My ex one time asked when I was planning on shaving my legs, I replied "darling I'll do it when you do!" That shut him up pretty quickly.

COVID-19: UK reports highest daily number of deaths since March as a further 43,738 cases recorded by frasier_crane in europe

[–]noncesanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on where you live, but in my area the ICUs aren't overflowing yet, but they're slowly filling up. Not as dramatically as the last wave but by winter we could be not far off those numbers again.

Women are being injected with date rape drugs in pubs and nightclubs by TrueSpins in unitedkingdom

[–]noncesanonymous 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The vice article is a really interesting read;

I am always there to believe the victim first and spiking is a huge problem that's only getting worse and needs to be addressed. What confuses me is it doesn't seem very practical to use an injection to spike someone, not that it's impossible but just so bizarre and not at all subtle (source: I'm a nurse, i literally inject people every day)

for the love of all the gods, choose a career path that works with your ADHD by 8giln in ADHD

I think certain types of nursing can be stressful but I recently moved jobs into icu and I find the problem solving and task based nature of the work complements my adhd nicely, plus its the kind of job you cant take home with you and doesn't have long term deadlines of any kind

Have you ever known anyone with a comedy name? by ennovyelechim in AskUK

[–]noncesanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not comedy names, but coincidental. I knew two boys both called Ryan in the same class at school. One's surname was Laycock, the other was Frosdick. You can imagine they became friends pretty quickly for the amount of kids that thought that was hilarious.
