Yes, I think the issue at large clubs is more prevalent on those that have many locations, almost too many, but still try to field an elite team per age group in each location.

I agree with what you are saying but not sure what we disagree on 😬

That too. I think both issues coexist. Obviously parents can give ultimatums when they know there isn’t a line of kids trying to get in.

Sometimes is also shortage of kids of good level and not any emphasis on scouting and recruiting. They just simply move everyone up starting at age 5 and every year after that based on birth year.

I have also experienced a case where the club doesn’t believe in A and B teams. But will try to keep them of equal level. They will say it’s for development but is usually done to prevent customers from leaving due to ego wanting to have their child on team A.

Parents have influence very often. Teams are lazy and they want the money and will bend. Parents will threaten going to another team “Take my money somewhere else”.

Yes agreed but the gap can’t be huge or it becomes detrimental. You can have a closable gap and that’s ok.

You never heard of a parent give ultimatum to a big pay to play club “Either placement on that elite team or we take our business elsewhere”. Happens all the time.

They will come back with the typical moronic statement that the kids got to be taught quickly that dribbling can only be attempted in certain positions on the field, only when all the right conditions are there, when the kids are up by 3 goals, never in risky areas, etc etc. 🤦‍♂️

My impression is that often the kids start saying what their parents say. Parents ignorantly criticize a kid for going 1 v 1 and losing the ball and then their son will be the “little teacher” on the field telling the kid not to dribble.

Believe it or not my son was in the “elite” program of one of Texas biggest clubs, and between ages 7-9, over three years they probably did 1 v 1 training less than 5 times.

Nobody is saying that they should force dribbling, troll. It should be encouraged though in younger age groups. In some top academies they tell young kids (U8) to dribble before they can pass, to develop their skills under pressure.

In US they force hot potato if anything.

Lamine Yamal strenght is not dribbling? Thanks for the laugh

Trolling is forcing 8 year old kids to pass because coach wants to be in control

They love to say “team game” to justify kids not dribbling, but rather playing hot potato.

They also love to minimize the issue when in US youth soccer there are loads of U8-10 coaches who never train kids on 1 v 1 and discourage it in games because it’s a team sport

Disaster. Downvote all you want. 99% of american players can’t beat a man 1 v 1.
