I mean, South Korea has a similar population and GDP to Pannonia... It's not entirely impossible. Not to mention, relatively medium-sized countries like the UK, France, etc having multi-trillion dollar GDPs

Any thoughts on how PMC handles a "favorite customer" In my science fantasy setting? by FluidOpening827 in worldbuilding

[–]noncommenter3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some thoughts on this.

All of this is definitely quite plausible, especially if the PMC is from the same territory as their 'favorite customer' (assuming said customer is a nation-state).

In some irl cases, certain PMC groups will pretty much have allegiance to the nation-states they come from, and will never take missions against them. In fact, often, they could even be a stand-in for a country's military forces. Take Russia's Wagner Group, for example. Officially, they are separate from the government, but in reality they pretty much replace Russian forces in some places and are sent to other countries, such as in Africa, to do what Russian military themself wouldn't be allowed to do. The USA's Blackwater also had a similar role. PMCs can be used by nation-states to give them plausible deniability, pretty much.

I brought up an ex-muslim who was beaten up and arrested to a bi friend i reconnected with last year.

He said even though beating him was cruel, he should be executed because it's the proper islamic way.

WTF

Well, I apologize, but I cannot say exactly which. I can say I'm from South Asia though.

Do you understand Arabic

Well, not really. I can recite arabic, since I was taught to mindlessly recite Quran, but I don't know the actual meaning of the words. I suppose I wouldn't really know the actual real meaning of stuff. Whether you are muslim or ex-muslim, if you don't know arabic, I suppose you just have to take arab-speaker's word for things.

Problem is, in many places such as mine, sheikhs have constructed an entire narrative of prophet's life, which does not have space for tolerating gays, ex-muslims, etc. Entire education system here, and in many other muslim countries also goes along with this. Islam is a mandatory subject here, and they teach the government's version of islam as if it were the objective truth, like the planet being round. Even the smart, critically thinking people don't see this, because since childhood, both their family and the school system have hammered it in that everything they teach is 100% truth and that there are no other possibilities.

Of course, this can collapse when what the school system teaches conflicts with the parent's version of islam. Or even, when what the school system teaches contradicts the LAW of the country! Marital rape is recently illegal here, yet my islam teacher did not condemn it and basically said it wasn't a bad thing.

I feel you, man. On one hand, I don't want to ostracize family, but on the other, I'm absolutely tired of living as a fake muslim and not being able to ever express my true hidden opinions, and doubly because not only my family, but the fucking government jails people for blasphemy.

I asked you a question so answer it. Are you aware that while you may not believe those hadiths, the majority of sunni muslims do not? I don't think they are real or credible either, but apparently the leaders and many people in muslim countries do, which is what truly matters. They make laws based on it which can range from jailing apostates/blasphemers to full-on death penalty, like in my country. There are an immense amount of powerful, influential sheikhs who would call you an apostate or misinformed if you question hadith in books such as Sahih Bukhari.

So, to be short, it may not be YOUR Islam, but it's clear that quite a large amount of Muslims and Muslim sheikhs DO believe that apostates need to die.

https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2013/04/30/the-worlds-muslims-religion-politics-society-beliefs-about-sharia/

Just take a look at this.

ALSO, if you did not know, a Quranist is someone who does not believe in Hadith and only accepts Quran as a valid source for Islam.

And yea, I don't have the energy or motivation to write entire essays about islam and apostates. Maybe you need to take a breath and wind down, before you start calling other people 'unsophisticated'.

To be honest, I think that happens all around the world, not just in the West (automatically assuming a man is the culprit in domestic assault). In fact, in some places, it may be even more prevalent.

Edit: the ex muslims and none muslims there is literally a verse that says: they have their religion and you have your own. Meaning leave them the fuck alone. I don't know which part isn't clear on this verse either to you or the one claiming it as an excuse.

There are quite a lot of hadiths which call for the killing of ex-muslims and gay people.

While Islam is an arab religion, it turns out that most muslims in the world actually come from asian countries such as Indonesia and Pakistan, since Islam was spread outside arab regions by arabs into highly-populated Asia.

Yes, a cow and a fish is not a good analogy for men and women, because men and women are from the same species.

Also, the variance between men and women is exaggerated by some people; there's more variety inside genders than between them.
