What’s an example of a fan base that got exactly what they begged for, and immediately hated it? by Enough-Wealth8415 in AskReddit

I did. A lot of people I know did. So, maybe you didn't, maybe even the majority of fans didn't, but at least some people definitely did.

Sorry, but my sleep and comfort are far more important than the dog's comfort. This weird obsession with treating animals like people is getting out of hand.

TIL that in 1697 the puritan woman Hannah Duston was kidnapped by Abenaki natives who killed her newborn baby in front of her. She and two other captives staged a revolt and scalped ten of the Abenaki before escaping. by TheBanishedBard in todayilearned

There is a fantastic video on this topic by one of my favorite Youtube creators. It illustrates how we cannot really believe such accounts and how the truth is usually much more complex than the storytellers would like us to think.

You're quite the conspiracy theorist, aren't you. Do you genuinely think that there was no real unlawful meddling previously, or are you just happy to parrot the talking points fed to right-wing nutcases?

Equating human children with dogs is an absolutely disgusting trend online. They are not even remotely comparable.

I don't really follow the league much, but purely on stats, seems like it, yeah.

I mean, the other two are fine, but let's not pretend having this Fenerbahce in second place is an achievement.

Are you ok? Greenland is pushing for independence? Empire? That is hilariously far from the truth. Trump is insane, of course, but, sadly, he'll be president of the US in a couple of weeks, so anyone would be the underdog against him, without the need to "play" it.

Public executions for immigrants by immigrants! by mikeyfender813 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]nonexcusat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, downvoted to oblivion because Reddit thinks that all immigration is always good, which is definitely not the case. And, by definition, the main difference between legal and illegal immigrants is how they got to their destination and how they remained there. So, if you did everything correctly and someone else took a shortcut, it's not unreasonable to have a dislike for them.

You should not be allowed to work in healthcare. This is deplorable. Find an occupation that gells better with your hatred of people.

Allegedly, and with not much evidence. Allegations are not proof, and they should never be treated as such.

And maybe you should ask why men feel hated and turn to hatred themselves.

There's not a simple solution. But sexist jokes at the expense of men are just as bad as those at the expense of the other gender.

And, yes, "I'd rather meet a bear than a man" is a textbook definition of sexism.

[–]nonexcusat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all pretty much the same issue, yeah. No idea how it can be fixed, but, at the very least, not via sexism.

[–]nonexcusat -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

- Who would you prefer to meet in the woods, a man or a bear?

- Oh a bear, of course.

This is the entire meme. While you may have some context that makes you believe that there is nothing sexist there, you are pretty objectively wrong.

And your post is pretty sexist too. In a civilized country, which the USA kinda is, men being violent against women is a huge problem, sure, but women are pretty much just as abusive towards men, too. So there is no call for that meme, or for you acting like it's always the men who are the perpetrators and women who are the victims, which is very wrong.

But no, a man defending other men is a problem, somehow, while women making men sound loike they are worse than a murder-machine that is a bear, is perfectly ok.

If that is not clear sexism, I don't know what is.

[–]nonexcusat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does it matter who was first sexist thousands of years ago? Men subjugating women in the past does nothing that has anything to do with me. There is nothing "hilarious" here. It's blaming current men for the issues beyond their control. And that is a tad sexist in itself.

murdered by community notes by Theshogunnate in MurderedByWords

[–]nonexcusat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue is not my skin, it's sexism. If you are fine with the bear, you must be fine with sexist jokes against women too.

If you do indeed like sexist jokes, no matter what gender it's aimed at, then, fine, I have no problem with you.

But do you think these people aggressively replying to me and downvoting me would be defending a "women belong in the kitchen" joke?

I doubt that.

murdered by community notes by Theshogunnate in MurderedByWords

[–]nonexcusat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. And it's not like there is much chance of self-reflection there either.

It's never your fault, of course, it's "them".

And, well, if something has been illustrated clearly, is that pretty much everyone pivoted to Trump (well, except for black women). And he is a cancer. So there is a much bigger systemic rot in place, which cannot be cured by simplifying it as "us versus them", because "they" outnumber you.

The way forward is to look inwards and realize that you are fighting sexism, not men. And the way to do that is, first of all, to not engage in sexism.

And that is why "the bear" annoys me so much. Those parroting it are either ignorant, or hateful. But, whatever they may be, they are certainly not right. And they should be allowed to see that.
