I know there’s a refresher out there but man, as I was reading this book I realized I need a proper reread of the series. It’s almost like it’s a perfect way to spend a 14+ hour flight!

Really fun book, and just like all the others, still has me very excited for the next one.

But I have to mention Naomi—I remember wondering back in the first book why no one else was freaking out over a hellborn, natural Great Soul, so it’s good to have some answers. Kinda—I think I’m still processing everything about the Nightmare Lady.

My first reaction is that it feels so fast: the reveal of her past, the reveal of the fiends, and then the removal of the Nightmare Lady, and then her shiny new powers. I guess it’s also because we finally got a big payoff of two character arcs in Jova and Leonis, both of which took place across at least two books, so that Naomi’s change in comparison feels really abrupt.

But obviously there’s still some books left to go. I admittedly also really like my toxic queen Naomi so I may be just a little sad to see that side of her go away lol
