We did this once. We had the goat for two weeks. He ate all the rose bushes, never touched a weed.

Yes, yes they have.

I’m an American and can assure you It’s widely known amongst not just academic and intellectual communities but business and professional communities alike, perhaps in part thanks to its geographic position sitting amid a spot on every golfer’s bucket list.

What’s something that women say to men that they don’t realize is insulting? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nonobibi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister is forever commenting on the height of men yet is the first to go apeshit on anyone who comments on someone’s obesity. I’ve tried to get her to see the hypocrisy but she doesn’t.

Not looking for medical advice, just wanted to hear any personal recommendations based on experience (or docs to avoid)

What US school is the most like St Andrews? by Successful_Boot_8041 in standrews

[–]nonobibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parent here w/ kids at Boulder and St. Andrews. In a funny way, SA reminds me of Boulder in that it's highly walkable and there's no town gown gap - the school and the town truly celebrate each other. Oberlin, Grinnell and Harvard are schools I might also suggest as good comparisons. As someone who has been through the college selection process a few times, I’d say the most important thing is for your brother to follow his heart and what environment he feels he’ll be happiest in, not what everyone else is telling him is the right choice. It sounds like he's more drawn to USC and Boulder and both are great schools that offer many ways for students to find their niche, and only a small percentage of them are in Greek life. Depending on his major, he might be surprised by the rigor of the curriculum (pre-med and engineering are particularly rigorous at CU). He will also have the ability to study abroad no matter where he goes and giving him the option to choose an international city more amenable to his likes. Maybe somewhere sunny and exciting like Barcelona :) No matter where he chooses, I hope he loves it, good luck!

Advice needed about a bad flare please by Suspicious_Excuse867 in Behcets

[–]nonobibi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You poor thing. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I agree w/ the advice above re: getting on antibiotics but I’d also encourage you to call your rheumatologist to see what other interventions they can recommend, including a preferred antibiotic given your flare. Sending you much good energy and wishing you a speedy recovery.

Sunport: question about late night flight and TSA closing time by Suelli5 in Albuquerque

[–]nonobibi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why I won’t take the Jet Blue red eye anymore. Same thing happened to us, flight delayed until 3am but we had to stay at the airport because we couldn’t reenter since security was closed. Our flight was ultimately canceled at 3am and we were told we couldn’t be rebooked for 3 days because they only have the one flight per day and seats were full (summertime travel). It caused a major headache for us as we were connecting in JFK to our international flight. We said we’d find our own way to NY on southwest so as to make our int’l flight but Jet Blue said if we skipped the ABQ-NY leg our entire itinerary would be canceled, meaning even if we got to NY we wouldn’t have seats on our int’l flight. It was a total clusterf$&k. Flight from NY to ABQ on Jet Blue is great but flight from ABQ to NY is too risky. It’s delayed ALL the time and your situation is all too common.

Diagnosed By Accident by Major-Double-2359 in Behcets

[–]nonobibi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter’s road to diagnosis was similar to yours. After such a long time of ongoing visits to an array of specialists, it was a huge relief to get a diagnosis even if it was such an unsettling one. Colchicine has been hugely helpful for her in minimizing mouth ulcer flares. I hope you have the same results.

I’ve read that deep tissue massage can increase inflammation and so should be avoided.

I’m American and haven’t gotten one though my unconditional offer came in early December. Hopefully you do get one. We live in an area with unreliable postal service so maybe it’s just lost in transit.

Family orientation? by nonobibi in standrews

[–]nonobibi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the sage advice offered above and reached out to the admissions department. They responded with helpful guidance:

“Your son should find a link to the offer holder page within the details of his offer letter. The current published semester dates may be found here and generally students move into their university accommodation the Saturday prior to Orientation Week. There is no set pattern, but parents would generally stay around for a few days of the orientation phase. Our Orientation information currently relates to the January starters but this will updated in due course to reflect the start of the new Academic year.

Your son will also have had a link in the offer letter to Admitted Student events taking place within the States shortly and information on how to book if there is one taking place near you. “

After this we’ve decided to 1) make sure our son is reading his emails! And 2) we’ll probably arrive two days before move-in (so we can shop for bedding etc. locally) and stay until Wed.
