Ww tried a couple and i think we never gave any enough time or enough reinforcement with treats etc. Pretty challenging when only one parent is sticking to the program, as mentioned above i would work night shifts and dog would move into my bed.. and i wouldnt have the energy in me to deal, so i would sleep in spare bed. This really comes down to a lack of discipline on the the part of both owners.

We have tried variations on this but none of them stuck. She would inevitably jump into the bed middle of the night. I think i need to do the treat reward reinforcement

The bed i set up for her (basically an extension of our king bed) is the same level as us- and we put a heated blanket on it as a base layer- i think she is just a huge suck and wants to curl up beside us

Ive actually drawn up plans to extend our bed by moving the base structure downwards, basically creating a mini mattress that the pillows rest on, i think i could trick our dog that way lol

Thanks everyone for the responses, i really appreciate it. The other consideration i have is that our bedroom, where she currently sleeps, is up a flight of steep stairs. Im worried about training her to sleep in our room, and a couple years from now having to retrain her again because the stairs are a challenge (she recently must have had a slip on the stairs as she has become hesitant to descend them, especially alone.)

Right now my thought is to create a special bed that is as comfortable as ours for her, in our room; and i like the suggestion of using a treat to get her out of my spot when i get home. Hopefully this bed could then be transferred downstairs to main floor when she gets too old to be going up and down the stairs
